How to Start Prey for the Pack – Morris’s Apothecary

First things first, you'll need to head to the Checkpoint Rest Town. The absolute easiest way to get there is by hopping on the oxcart located on the west side of Vernworth, specifically at the West Vernworth Oxcart Station. Just a heads-up, these oxcart rides can sometimes attract unwanted attention from large beasts that might try to destroy the cart. So, be ready to defend it if that happens! If the worst occurs and the cart gets wrecked, don't sweat it – you can still make your way west along the main road and you'll eventually reach the town. Once you arrive, make your way to Morris’s Apothecary. It's right in the middle of town, and as you get close, a cutscene will kick off, officially starting the quest.

Speak With the Townsfolk – Timothy and Alsa

After Morris gives you the quest, your next job is to chat with a couple of the locals in Checkpoint Rest Town. It's not a huge place, so finding them won't take long. You'll want to talk to Lutz first, the guy who told Morris about Rodge being nabbed by wolves. He'll mention that someone in town actually saw the whole thing go down, but he won't spill who. So, it's up to you to find them. For the quickest route, seek out Alsa, who hangs out by the well in the market square, and Timothy, also chilling in the market square. They're the ones with the intel.

Follow the Glowing Flowers to the Putrid Cave

Timothy saw Rodge being dragged off by wolves near the cenotaph, which is located to the east of Checkpoint Rest Town. Alsa, on the other hand, will give you a more mystical clue: she mentions flowers that glow at night, scattered along the road heading east. This is your main hint! While it's not spelled out, you need to follow these glowing flowers. They'll lead you straight to the Putrid Cave. Honestly, the best time to follow this trail is at night when the flowers are actually glowing. However, if you're impatient or just want to get it done, you can skip the flower-following and head directly east from Checkpoint Rest Town to the Putrid Cave. You'll find Rodge there, surrounded by the wolves. The screenshot below shows you exactly where this cave is.

Once you get to the Putrid Cave, head inside. You'll find Rodge in a bit of a tight spot with the wolves. Your priority is to take them down quickly before they can do too much damage to him. After you've cleared out the wolves, have a chat with Rodge. He'll need an escort back to Checkpoint Rest Town. To make this journey back safer and easier, try to do it during the daytime. When you finally make it back to Morris’s Apothecary, report back to Morris that his grandson is safe and sound.

After you've successfully returned Rodge to his grandfather, a short dialogue will play out, and you'll be rewarded for your efforts with 4,000 XP, 11,000 gold, and x2 Miracle Roborant.
