Tolled To Rest & Ancient Battlefield Key

Follow this guide to complete the 'Tolled To Rest' quest in Dragon's Dogma 2, get the Ancient Battlefield Key, and unlock powerful rewards.

Alright, so you've helped out those folks on the road, and now it's time to head into the Ancient Battlefield. Just follow the path leading towards that ruined castle. When you get to the entrance, be ready – a bunch of skeleton warriors and mages are gonna pop up. Take 'em out, then find the only way in, which involves climbing a ladder and heading down a ruined tower. This will get you behind that locked gate near the main entrance.

Watch out, more enemies will spawn once you drop down. Deal with those skeletons, unlock that shortcut, and then make your way through the rest of the building. Keep following the path as it winds upwards, and on your right, you should spot the Cenotaph. Right there, you'll find a bell and a book called 'Nation's Death Knell.' There's also a Unique Chest here that holds the Makeshift Vault Key.

After you've dealt with the enemies and unlocked the shortcut, head through the rest of the building. Follow the path upwards and around, and you'll find the Cenotaph on your right. Interact with the bell and the book 'Nation's Death Knell' to get a Unique Chest. Inside, you'll find the Makeshift Vault Key.

Once you've rung the bell, Oskar (the NPC with you) will finish up, and you'll get your rewards: 9000 G and the Ancient Battlefield Key. Pretty sweet haul!

Ancient Battlefield Key Tips

Now that you've got the Ancient Battlefield Key, leave the Cenotaph room and take a left. Keep an eye on your right side, and you'll see a locked door. Use your shiny new key to open it up – it leads to an area you couldn't access before.

Inside this locked room, you'll find two Unique Chests. One of them has a Ferrystone and 2200 Gold. The other one is a real treat: it contains the Infernal Edge duospear, which is a fantastic weapon for the Mystic Spearhand Vocation. It packs a 50% Fire damage bonus, making it a really strong choice if you're going for a magic-focused Spearhand build.
