Walkthrough
  1. 1
Upon starting, Janris will inform you that your goals have expanded to include developing colonies, claiming territories, and establishing trade links. You will receive three Mobile Extractiums. If you previously purchased three extractiums from Explorators, you will now have six (or eight if you prioritized extractiums over reputation with Opticon-22).
  2. 2
Bring up the system map (Koronus Expanse Map). Initially, only the Furibundus System will be mapped.
  3. 3
Press ▢ to chart new routes. This action unlocks a trophy. You will start with three mapped routes: Sotto's Tomb (green), Aviorus (yellow), and Trinnitos (orange). Route colors indicate danger: orange routes may lead to trouble, and red routes (like "To the Imperium") are deadly.
  4. 4
You can spend Navigator Insight points (shown at the bottom of the screen) to reduce route danger. Spending three Insight points can establish a new, initially deadly, route that requires further Insight to make safer. Charting warp routes grants +1 Navigator Insight, and more can be gained through events.
  5. 5
There are a total of 44 systems to explore (48 with the DLC (downloadable content — extra missions or items released after launch)). Exploring all of them unlocks a trophy.
  6. 6
While travelling between systems, you will encounter various Warp Events, some of which are inconsequential, while others unlock companion quests.
  7. 7
Ritual of Binding (Void Shadows): Kibellah announces a ritual to seal your bond. Find her on the bridge and agree to the ritual. Follow her to the Officers' Deck for a sparring session in a labyrinth. If you ask about the ritual's purpose, Kibellah explains it's not necessary to understand and speaks of mazes. You can offer to show her your world to initiate her companion quest, Rituals of the Upper Decks.
  8. 8
Rituals of the Upper Decks (Void Shadows): Tell Janris you want to show Kibellah upper deck life. After the next warp jump, Janris will confirm preparations for the ritual. On the bridge, use the northern exit to reach the Officers' Deck and find Kibellah. Make a Persuasion (+75) check (a skill test) to ease her. Engage in small talk; you can eventually ask her for a walk or end the evening. If you choose to walk, she will ask your motivations. This is an opportunity to initiate romance.
  9. 9
Stranger Among Her Own: Vigdis reports Cassia is causing disturbances. Ask Vigdis to deliver her report. On the bridge, Abelard reports Cassia amending ship's logs, and Jae mentions Cassia complaining about cabin colours. Find Cassia and discuss her issues. Make a Willpower (+55) check to resist her panic and agree to talk in your study. Discuss her infractions; she has explanations, but don't call her a monster. Suggest improving her communication skills. Cassia will ask questions. For the question about subject acceptance of a new ruler, you can use Lore: Imperium (+5) or Commerce (+5) with Jae's help, or attempt a Persuasion (+5) check alone. The question about choosing magnanimity or fear requires an unassisted Fellowship (+40) check. When she feels comfortable, invite her to continue. She asks how you bear your responsibilities. Your reply influences her development: "It is not always easy..." pushes her towards independence; "It is my duty whether I like it or not" pushes her towards duty.
  10. 10
Echo of the Past: After a warp jump, Vigdis reports a sighting of Lady Theodora on the lower decks with Idira present. Ask Vigdis for the location and select your party (Idira is unavailable). You regain control in the Macro-Cannon Chamber. Examine nearby machinery (Tech-Use +20) for XP (experience points) before heading north to encounter a warp echo of Theodora. Demand to know her purpose; she states a servant's plea brought her. Promise to send her back.
Tips
  • The order of visiting the three main worlds of the von Valancius protectorate does not matter.
  • Route colors on the minimap (the small circular map in the bottom-left corner of your screen) (a small map showing your immediate surroundings) indicate danger levels.
  • Navigator Insight points are crucial for safe warp travel and establishing new routes.
  • Warp Events can lead to significant story developments and companion quests.
  • Companion quests offer insights into characters and can influence their development and relationships.
  • Skill checks are vital for progressing dialogues and overcoming challenges.
