Complete the "Flame in the Dark" quest in Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader. Make planetfall on Kiava Gamma and find out what is happening on the industrial world.
Walkthrough
- 1Return to the Telikos Epsilon system. Your ultimate destination is the Cranach System, several jumps to the left. You can explore the nearby systems of Pulvus Platinum, where you will find a voidship with some very nice Navigator equipment, and Silence of Mer-Segrit where you will simply find a few resources and the first of four Archeotech Mechanism Fragments. From Telikos Epsilon, take the orange route to Orsellio Prophecy.
- 2From Orsellio Prophecy, you can plot warp routes to Agathus Archides, Pillars of Viridice and Hundred Dreams Crossroads. Agathus Archides has some voidship remains which you can explore through an illustrated book episode. The ice world in Pillars of Viridice has the wreck of an Inquisition vessel leading to a somewhat tedious boss battle. Your reward is a nice suit of heavy armour. If you have the Void Shadows DLC (downloadable content — extra missions or items released after launch) you will also find the Heriokh's Rim trading station. Be aware that this is an extremely difficult space battle so you may want to wait until you have unlocked more upgrades and unlocked a couple of ultimate post abilities. Finally, Hundred Dreams Crossroads has a tough optional space battle but otherwise little of interest.
- 3If you are pursuing a romance, keep an eye out for romantic interludes as you hop from system to system.
- 4The first task is to check a fuel lever on the bridge which you will find near Pasqal.
- 5Afterwards, speak to Vigdis about calibrating the ship's vox-system. She tells you that it is functioning perfectly.
- 6To continue, you need to visit the Forgotten Twins system which will be covered at the relevant time.
- 7From Orsellio Prophecy, follow the orange route to Adermatt II which has a couple of points of interest.
- 8From here, you can voyage to Porta Septentum, although you won't find anything there besides a space battle and an inactive warp gate.
- 9Return to Adermatt II and continue on to Tenebris Aquae where you can complete part of Yrliet's first companion quest.
- 10From Tenebris Aquae, you can explore the Nolla Septum system if you like.
- 11From here, follow the yellow route to your destination, Cranach.
- 12When you arrive, Vigdis will report that Kiava Gamma is requesting to exchange data. Respond however you please and your vox systems will be overloaded by interference, throwing you into an illustrated book episode.
- 13Do not attempt to decipher the transmissions. Instead, continue sending orders and assign officers to control systems (Persuasion). An engineer reports that the transmission from Kiava Gamma has infected your systems with scrap code. Make a Persuasion check to evacuate the bridge.
- 14Afterwards, access an unaffected cogitator (Tech-Use) to start to bring the situation under control and then head to the middle decks yourself to minimise casualties.
- 15When you approach Kiava Gamma, you will be thrown into battle against three Iconoclast-Class Destroyers and two Infidel-Class Raiders.
- 16After you've dealt with them, scan the planet and select the Manufactorum of Kiava Gamma.
- 17Head to the room to the west initially where you will find a number of Corrupted Servitors.
- 18Observe the one closest to you and when it reaches out to you, make an Agility (+40) check to avoid taking damage.
- 19Afterwards, look for the source of the repeating clicks and make a Medicae (-5) check to cut away a tumour from the servitor's spinal cogitator.
- 20Order the servitors to follow their default programming and they will follow you around.
- 21While you're here, examine the cogitators and view the logs. The third log is encrypted (Logic +0) and describes "new protocols" received from the Fabricator who appears to be up to no good.
- 22Return to the previous hallway and follow it north where you will have a scene with a Tech-Priest who demands identification.
- 23If Pasqal is with you, he informs you that the unit is compromised. Examine the priest (Awareness) for confirmation. A fight with the Corrupted Magos is inevitable but you want to provoke it here, otherwise it will be much more difficult.
- 24When the enemies are dead, use the lift that the Heretek and servitors rode down on to reach the upper level where you will find a cogitator that you can use to lower the walkway that the corrupted magos raised.
- 25Afterwards, remove a trap from the passageway to the east and follow the walkway round until you reach a number of steam vents. Separate your party.
