Heinrix can be difficult to fit into a party since he competes for a spot with Abelard and, if your main character is a psyker, will compete with you for gear (Eyes of Joyeuse, Psychic Breastplate, Sanctified Staff or Blooddrinker Staff) in a way that Idira doesn't. He's also stretched a little thin since most initial choices follow an RP concept that doesn't gel mechanically. For example, Sanctic Powers benefit from high resolve but Heinrix has low Fellowship and a base archetype that doesn't allow for Fellowship advancement. For the same reason, those initial 10 points in Coercion are useless. For that matter, the free Melta Proficiency talent is also completely pointless and I only give him points in Lore (Xenos) so that the free Base Skill/Advanced Skill talents aren't wasted as well.
Since Heinrix is a psyker, I give him Blade of Light. However, since he also has Lore (Xenos), you can give him Drukhari proficiency instead because Drukhari swords scale better than force swords until Chapter 4. As a Warrior Psyker, there are a number of mid to late game items that add substantial damage to his melee attacks, such as the Psy Focus amulet and the Hand of Offence accessory.
Heinrix - Companion Quests
Secrets of the Cult
Heinrix will be a required party member when you go to Kiava Gamma. While making your way through the manufactorum, look out for a fugitive lexmechanic and question him to learn the location of a certain cogitator from which Heinrix might learn more about the Cult of the Final Dawn. You will find the cogitator elsewhere in the complex and must decide what do with it. Finally, discuss what you learned back on the voidship.
Price of Humanity
After returning from Commorragh, Heinrix will tell you that he has received a scrambled message from a colleague. Travel to Phton IV to investigate what's happening. Afterwards, discuss what you found back on the voidship.
