How to Sneak Through the Library

To begin this quest, complete Professor Hecat’s Assignment 1 and learn the Incendio spell. Then, meet Sebastian Sallow, who will teach you the Disillusionment spell.

Equip the Disillusionment spell. Cast it to become less visible. Avoid line of sight with enemies.

Sneak down the first flight of stairs. Wait for the patrolling Prefect to move to the opposite end of the room before proceeding down the second flight of stairs.

After the second flight, you'll find a third leading to a chamber with three Prefects and two doors. The target door is to the left. Wait for the patrolling Prefect to move towards the right door, then sneak into the left door.

Continue downstairs and through a second door into the library. Head to the marked bookcases on the left.

When the Librarian patrols away from her desk, sneak over and steal the key. Return to the bookshelves.

Make your way to the northwestern edge of the room, follow the far wall northeast, then turn southeast and unlock the door.

Head downstairs. To get past the ghost, cast a basic spell at a suit of armor in the opposite corner to create a distraction. Quickly sneak past where the ghost was.

Be aware of a second ghost. If you take too long, it may return to its post. Use a basic attack on the wall in front of it to lure it away, then sneak past.

Once past the ghosts and down the stairs, Sebastian will give the all-clear, and you can stop using Disillusionment.
