Guide to finding Demiguise Statues in Hogwarts Legacy. Learn how to start 'The Man Behind the Moons' quest and collect moons to upgrade Alohomora.

So, Gladwin Moon, the Hogwarts caretaker, is having a rough time because someone's been leaving these creepy Demiguise Statues around. They only show up at night, and they're popping up everywhere – Hogwarts, Hogsmeade, and even some villages. Gladwin's convinced someone's doing it just to annoy him, and honestly, they're succeeding! Your job is to hunt down these statues. If you can collect them all, you'll not only help Gladwin get some peace but maybe figure out who's behind this whole statue-placing spree.

This quest, The Man Behind the Moons, kicks off right after you finish The Caretaker’s Lunar Lament. Remember when Gladwin Moon first showed you those Demiguise Statues? After you've grabbed those first three moons (one was easy, the other two were part of that stealth bit), you'll head back to Gladwin. He'll be so relieved, he'll offer to teach you higher levels of Alohomora, the spell you use to open locked doors, in exchange for finding more Demiguise Statues.

The main part of this quest is all about finding these Demiguise Moons scattered across the world. Don't stress too much about the order you find them in, but here's the deal: you need to bring Gladwin Moon a total of nine Demiguise Moons to unlock Alohomora II, and then thirteen *more* (so 22 total) to get Alohomora III. Each upgrade lets you pick tougher locks, and guess what? A lot of these statues are hidden behind locked doors! Luckily, most of them are behind Level 1 or Level 2 locks, so you won't need the highest level of Alohomora for every single one.

Where should you look? Well, these statues tend to pop up in places Gladwin hangs out, so you'll find most of them in Hogwarts itself (ten of them!) and in Hogsmeade (nine there!). Once you clear those two areas, you'll be most of the way done. After that, you'll find one statue in pretty much every village and hamlet scattered around the valley. Having a broom will definitely make collecting these a lot faster!

Once you've managed to collect all 22 Demiguise Statues, keep an eye out for an Owl Post from a guy named Piers Pemberton. He'll be pretty annoyed that you've been taking the statues. If you don't get the owl right away, just keep collecting more statues – it's a good way to pass the time anyway!

When you finally get that Owl Post from Piers, head over to Hogsmeade to find him. He'll spill the beans and confess that he's the one who's been placing all those Demiguise Statues and explain why. After you confirm this, go tell Gladwin Moon. He'll basically say that Piers kind of had it coming and that he didn't really learn anything from the ordeal, but finding out the truth seems to have freed him from the statues' torment. Later on, you'll get another Owl Post from Gladwin saying he and Piers have patched things up and decided to let it go. Gladwin still calls Piers "Piggy" though, so yeah, definitely no lessons learned there!
