Shiny beasts are encountered while exploring Beast Dens. The first shiny beast you might find is a Niffler in the Brood and Peck shop, marked with a cross next to its name. In the wild, you won't be able to distinguish a shiny beast from a regular one by appearance alone until you get close enough to see the cross symbol next to its name on the HUD (heads-up display — the on-screen icons showing health, ammo and the minimap). Shiny beasts spawn randomly among regular ones and do not have unique spawn points.

How Often Do Shiny Beasts Spawn?

Shiny beasts are more common than you might expect, with tests showing a spawn rate of approximately one shiny beast every 30 minutes to an hour of searching Beast Dens. Some shiny beasts are easier to find than others. For instance, Mooncalves are often easier to find in their shiny form. If you don't immediately find a shiny, you can try changing the time of day to make beasts respawn (be brought back to life at a checkpoint after death). Visiting different dens and returning to previously checked areas can also help despawn non-shinies and encourage new spawns. Moving between two to three different dens while hunting can optimize your time.
