Learn about scenario percentages, SP Items, Infinity Mode, and online play in Resident Evil Outbreak. Discover game features and mechanics.
Scenario %
Scenario percentages are earned as you progress through the game. Completing side tasks awards scenario percentage. Achieving 100% for all scenarios unlocks the final secret, though this is challenging.
SP Items
SP Items are special collectibles that do not occupy inventory slots. They function similarly to FILES and maps. There are two types: stage SP Items (20 per stage) and personal SP Items (20 per character). Collecting all SP Items unlocks content in the Collection section and can make alternate costumes available for unlocking.
Scenario Progression
The scenarios are not connected, meaning there is no explanation for how characters move between the end of one scenario and the start of the next. The last scenario is scenario 5; there are no scenarios 6, 7, or 8.
Hellfire Bug
Early batches of the NTSC/J version of Resident Evil Outbreak may have a bug in the Hellfire scenario that prevents reaching 100% completion. The intended task of pressing the bell during the boss fight is not registered. A fixed version, the new "Survival Rule" mode, is available. Future releases (NTSC/NA and PAL) will not have this bug. Refer to section 9 for "Survival Rule" mode and section 24 for more information on the bug.
Infinity Mode
The "????" under Scenario mode is Infinity Mode, where ammunition and weapon usage do not deplete. It is unlocked by obtaining 100% on all events.
Plot-Related Information
Characters from past games include G-William and Nicholai Ginovaef from Resident Evil 3: Nemesis, who makes two cameo appearances. Hunk from Resident Evil 2 appears as a secret character known as "U.S.S.I". The T-virus gauge can be stopped by George's medicines or the key item "Daylight", found near the end of the last scenario. The game is considered part of the official storyline. Known endings include the "Helicopter ending" (using Daylight) and the "Official ending" (staying behind with a partner without using Daylight). Yoko worked for Umbrella two years prior to a terrible incident, and she either has lost her memory or is faking it, denying any Umbrella association. The "pair endings" are assumed to be the official ones. David's age is unknown. Nicholai appears in the DD scenario; his presence is explained by assuming the ending's explosion occurs minutes or hours after defeating Thanatos, allowing him time to reach the Dead Factory.
Online Structure
There is no added fee for online play. Offline play differs by having different difficulty settings that change item locations, no latency issues from poor connections, and the ability to command two AI characters. If a player dies in an online scenario, they cannot see what is happening unless they can play as a zombie. New players can only join at the start of each scenario; mid-way joins are not possible. If a player quits mid-scenario, their character stops moving and will eventually be killed by enemies. Progress is saved after each scenario, allowing players to continue with the same team or join a different group for the next scenario.
