Master the Yunalesca boss fight in Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster. Learn strategies for all three forms, including her powerful attacks like Mega Death and Absorb.

Phases:

1. First Form: Yunalesca uses a normal attack that removes buffs (except Reflect, Regen, Auto-Life) and Absorb, which heals her by draining HP from the character with the highest current HP (equal to half their max HP). She counters physical attacks with Blind, magical attacks with Silence, and other attacks with Sleep. Casting Reflect on your party can help mitigate these counters and later spells.
2. Second Form: Yunalesca transforms and uses Hellbiter, inflicting Zombie on the party. Do not remove Zombie, as it helps against Mega Death later. Yunalesca will cast Regen and Cura on your Zombified party, damaging them due to the Zombie ailment. If Reflect is active, these spells will bounce back at her. Dispel Regen if it lands on her. Her normal attack still dispels buffs, and Absorb is now only used on Aeons.
3. Third Form: Yunalesca casts Mega Death on her first turn, instantly KOing characters without Zombie or Deathproof armor. She retains Hellbiter, Regen, and her normal attack counter. She upgrades Cura to Curaga and uses Mind Blast, which can inflict Confusion on characters and Curse on Aeons. She can also use Osmose on Aeons and uses Hellbiter more freely.

Strategy:

• Cast Reflect on your party early to counter many of Yunalesca's spells, including her healing and status-inflicting attacks.
• Keep the Zombie status effect on your party, especially for the third form, to survive Mega Death.
• If you have Rikku's Overdrive ready, steal a Stamina Tablet and use Mix with a Potion to create Mega Vitality, which doubles your party's HP, greatly aiding survivability.
• While Yunalesca is not weak to Holy, Holy magic can deal significant damage, potentially up to 9,999 HP, especially from characters with high magic stats like Yuna or Lulu.
• Be mindful that her normal attack dispels buffs, so reapply them as needed.
• Dispel any Regen spells that Yunalesca reflects back onto herself.
