Boss Fight: Belgemine’s Ixion

This battle can be surprisingly difficult if you're not ready for it, but don't stress too much – you don't actually *need* to win. The rewards for victory aren't game-changing, and you can use both Ifrit and Valefor, so if one gets knocked out, you still have a backup.

For the first half of the fight, Ixion will stick to basic physical attacks and Aerospark, which also deals physical damage. Once it hits 50% HP, it'll cast Haste on itself, meaning it'll start taking way more turns than you. Be ready for that!

Stats / Weaknesses:

  • HP: 6,000
  • Attacks: Physical Attack, Aerospark
  • Special: Casts Haste at 50% HP

Strategy:

  • Starting Aeon: Ifrit is your best bet to start. You can use its Fire attack on itself to heal its HP, which is super handy.
  • Overdrive: If Yuna's Overdrive is ready when you start, Ifrit's Hellfire can take out about half of Ixion's HP (around 3,000 damage).
  • Two-Shot Potential: Depending on Yuna's stats and how you've leveled her on the Sphere Grid, you might even get a second Hellfire off, potentially defeating Ixion in just two hits!
  • Aeon Overdrives: Be aware that using an Aeon's Overdrive often gives the enemy a lot of turns in a row. Make sure Yuna is well-developed on the Sphere Grid to handle this.
  • Win: Two Dragon Scales
  • Lose: Six Smoke Bombs
  • Regardless of outcome: Belgemine gives you the Summoner’s Soul item. This lets you use items to teach your Aeons new abilities, which is great for customizing them later on, even if you don't have many good abilities to teach right now.
