Learn the ins and outs of Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster's battle system, including character switching, Overdrives, and essential combat strategies to dominate your foes.
Hey there! Ready to dive deeper into combat in Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster? This section covers some really cool mechanics that'll make you a much more effective fighter. Let's get you prepped!
Changing Characters
One of the coolest features in FFX's battle system is the ability to swap out party members on the fly! If you've got more than three people in your party during a fight, just hit the L1/LB/L button. This brings up your 'bench' where you can choose who you want to bring into the action. Just remember, anyone who wants to get those sweet Ability Points (AP) after the battle needs to have taken an action in combat, even if they were swapped in right at the end. So, don't forget to give everyone a turn!
Overdrives
See that bar under your character's HP and MP in the bottom right? That's the Overdrive bar! Each character has an 'Overdrive Mode' that determines how this bar fills up. Once it's completely full, they can unleash their unique Overdrive attack. These can range from powerful direct damage moves to something special like Yuna summoning an Aeon, which itself has a full Overdrive bar ready to go. Mastering these Overdrives can seriously turn the tide of battle!
