Valefor is your first Aeon in Final Fantasy X, and while it comes with a few Black Magic spells by default, you can teach it a lot more to make it a powerhouse. Think of Valefor as a blank slate; you're going to want to customize it to fit your playstyle.

Here are Valefor's default abilities:

When you're looking to add more abilities to Valefor, definitely consider Haste, Protect, and Shell. Since Valefor isn't tied to a specific element like Ifrit or Shiva, it can't heal itself with elemental magic. This means adding a healing spell is super useful, and Curaga is the best choice if you can get it. If you want Valefor to hit harder, you can also teach it the -ra and -ga versions of spells.
