Guide to the Evrae boss fight and subsequent battles upon arrival in Bevelle in Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster. Learn strategies and tips to survive.
Walkthrough
- 1Evrae Boss Fight: This fight takes place on an airship deck. Tidus and Rikku can issue commands to Cid (Move in or Pull back) on his turn.
- 2When Far Away: Evrae uses Photo Spray (8 hits, random targets). Cid can launch missiles (up to 3 times). Evrae may counter with Swooping Scythe, moving it close. Use this time to buff your party. Long-distance attacks (Black Magic, Wakka, Lancet) are effective.
- 3When Up Close: Evrae uses Stone Gaze (inflicts Petrify and Slow on one character; physical attacks shatter petrified characters) and Poison Breath (requires a turn to charge; can be avoided if Cid pulls back while charging).
- 4Evrae's Abilities: Susceptible to Slow initially. Casts Haste on itself when HP is below 10,000. It will counter Slow with Haste. Reflect (via Rikku's Sphere Grid) can counter Haste.
- 5Debuffs: Evrae is susceptible to Power Break and Delay. It is immune to Armor Break. Delay Attack may cause Evrae to use Haste earlier.
- 6Buffs: Use Protect (from Light Curtains) or Mighty G Mix (Haste, Protect, Shell) if Rikku's Overdrive is full.
- 7Wedding Crasher Battles: After Evrae, you arrive in Bevelle and must fight several enemy waves.
- 8Battle 1: Two Warrior Monks (normal guns) and one Warrior Monk (flamethrower).
- 9Battle 2: Two Flamethrower Monks and one YKT-63. Defeat the YKT-63 first to avoid Thrust Kick, which ejects a character and prevents AP gain.
- 10Battles 3-5: Three more battles, with the YAT-99 introduced in the final one. The YAT-99 is in the back row and can hit single targets or the whole party. Defeating the front Warrior Monks moves your party forward, negating the YAT-99's back-row advantage.
- 11Post-Battle: After the fifth battle, scenes play out.
- 12Escape Bevelle: Regain control and touch the panel at the top of the stairs to take an elevator.
- 13Collect Al Bhed Primer Vol. XXII: Follow the path and pick up the Al Bhed Primer Vol. XXII on the ground before entering the next area. This is missable.
- 14Save and Proceed: Head to the Save Sphere, save your game, and walk through the doorway.
Tips
- Consider equipping Stone Ward and Poison Ward to armor to mitigate Evrae's status effects.
- Al Bhed Potions can be used for healing.
- If you have access to Reflect via the Sphere Grid, it can be a useful counter to Evrae's Haste.
- Be aware of the YKT-63's Thrust Kick and prioritize defeating it to protect your party members from ejection.
