Walkthrough

    Begin the butterfly catching mini-game by touching the "butterfly of many hues." Collect blue butterflies and avoid red ones. Touching red butterflies triggers stronger enemy encounters. There are seven blue butterflies on each of the two screens where the mini-game takes place. Prizes vary based on story progression; early prizes include an MP Sphere and Ether. The Saturn Sigil is available later.

    After the mini-game, proceed past the NPC who explained it into the next area.

    Head up the large tree branch. At a sharp northeast bend, look behind the tree on the left for a chest containing a Remedy.

    Continue to the next screen, where a Save Sphere and O’aka will be present.

    Speak with O’aka to access his shop. Exit the shop and choose "Too pricey" when asked if the prices are too expensive. This will reduce prices by 25%.

    To the right of O’aka, find Al Bhed Primer Vol. XV.

    Continue north of O’aka for a scene where Auron opens a new path. Save your game.

    Proceed through the newly opened path to face the next boss.

BOSS - Spherimorph

Stats / Weaknesses:

  • Absorbs all elements except one, which changes randomly.
  • Determine current weakness by performing a regular attack; Spherimorph will counter with a tier 1 spell of its absorbed element.
  • Cast spells of the opposing element to deal high damage (Fire/Ice, Thunder/Water).

Phases:

  1. Spherimorph absorbs an element.
  2. Perform a regular attack to reveal its current elemental weakness.
  3. Cast the opposing elemental spell for significant damage.
  4. Spherimorph uses Elemental Shift to change its weakness. Repeat steps 2-4.
  5. When Spherimorph's HP is low, it can use Press, halving the party's HP.

Strategy:

  • Use regular attacks to identify Spherimorph's current elemental weakness.
  • Cast elemental spells that are opposing to its current absorption to deal high damage.
  • Yuna can use Nul spells (Nul-Fire, Nul-Ice, etc.) for protection against elemental attacks.
  • Lulu is effective due to her high elemental damage output once the weakness is known.
  • Be prepared for Spherimorph to use Elemental Shift frequently.
  • Watch out for the Press attack when Spherimorph is low on HP.
  • Upon defeating Spherimorph, you will receive a Jecht Sphere, which unlocks Auron's Overdrive, Shooting Star.
