Walkthrough

    In Special World 3, grab the two Star Coins on either side of the center. Run through the flower patch in the second column from the top and second row from the top to reveal a 1-Up. Hit the ? Block in the northwest corner for a Fire Flower. The center flower patch on the bottom row and two flower patches in the second and third columns on the second row from the top also contain 1-Ups.

    In Special World 5, first grab the Star Coins on either side of the center. Then, carefully navigate the alternating checkerboard of 1-Ups and Poison Mushrooms to collect as many 1-Ups as possible.

    In Special World 7, first grab the two Star Coins on the left and right sides of the room. Hit the northwestern ? Block, which is a ? Box that gives more coins the more you move. Then, hit the remaining ? Blocks in an anti-clockwise order, each dropping a 1-Up.

    In another room in Special World 7, grab the Fire Flower to your north and the two Star Coins on either side of the center. Shoot fireballs at the braziers in each corner; when all four are lit, four 1-Ups will appear.
Tips
  • In Special World 3, collect as many 1-Ups as you can before time runs out.
  • In Special World 5, be extremely careful as it's very easy to die.
  • In Special World 7, it's best to grab the 1-Ups from the ? Blocks right at the end for a higher chance of obtaining all three, though you risk losing more if you aren't quick enough.
  • In the other Special World 7 room, grab all four 1-Ups before time runs out.

Super Mushroom

Appearance: A Mushroom with two eyes. The red top has white spots.

The Super Mushroom upgrades Small Mario to Normal Mario. It is found in ? Blocks (question mark blocks) by Small Mario, in place of other items. It can also be found in other locations, although this is less common. If Mario collects a Super Mushroom whilst he is Fire Mario, Tanooki Mario, Statue Tanooki Mario, Boomerang Mario or Invincible Tanooki Mario, the Super Mushroom will disappear and you will receive ten coins.
