The Cabin in the Blight

Follow this walkthrough for Dragon Age: The Veilguard's 'The Cabin in the Blight' side quest. Find Flynn, clear blight, and discover Physician Oskar's fate.

Alright, so you've finished up the main quest 'The Siege of Weisshaupt' and you're back at The Lighthouse. Before you go chatting up all your companions and Solas for the 'After the Storm' quest, there's a little side business we can pick up. Head into the Library and look for a Letter Sealed with a Grey Warden Seal. Reading that will kick off the quest The Cabin in the Blight. Once you've done your obligatory rounds of conversation, fast-travel back to the Hossberg Wetlands to get started.

First things first, we need to find the physician's apprentice, Flynn, in Lavendel. He's a bit short on supplies and could use a hand, so he'll ask you to head over to his master's cabin. Now, you might have noticed some nasty blight-growths around the Hossberg Wetlands that you couldn't clear before. Turns out, this quest is your first real demonstration of how quest progression can make previously impassable blight destructible. The cabin we're looking for is one of these blighted structures, located way down south in the Solitude's Edge area. If you've already unlocked the fast travel beacon nearby, definitely use it – it'll save you a trek.

Once you arrive, head upstairs to the cabin. You'll find it's surrounded by blight and guarded by a couple of burster darkspawn. Take them out, then circle around to the eastern side of the cabin to find a blight cyst. Pop that, and then look for another one on a cliff to the northwest. With both cysts destroyed, the blight blocking the main door on the western side will become vulnerable. Slice your way inside!

As soon as you're in, check a table just beyond the door to grab some Blue Buttons, which give you +50 Caretaker Power. Then, you'll want to examine the various tables and desks. In the northeasternmost room, on a desk, you'll find the Physician's Notebook. Reading this will give you a clue about Oskar's whereabouts – he was looking for some 'Brona's Bloom' plants. Sadly, the blighted corpse on the bed suggests Oskar is no longer with us, but maybe he's still out there somewhere, desperately searching for a cure that came too late.

Now, we need to search for the physician. You'll get three objectives on your map: one atop the tower to the southwest, one to the southeast heading towards Gaspin Manor, and one to the northwest in the Swamp Road area. Don't waste your time on the southwestern and southeastern spots – they're dead ends. Head northwest instead.

To get there quickly, take the zipline. It'll bypass most of the low ground and the darkspawn you'd otherwise have to fight, which usually include some ghouls, a Hurlock, and a javelineer. If you skip the zipline, you'll have to work your way through the swamp and up some ledges and stairs, where you'll find another javelineer near your objective anyway. Either way, defeat the javelineer and investigate the body you find to confirm Oskar's fate and collect any materials he managed to gather before he died.

Finally, return to Flynn in Lavendel. Deliver the grim news and the supplies, and after a bit of optional dialogue, the quest will conclude. For your efforts, you'll earn 1,750 EXP, the Reinforced Binding belt, and +200 Grey Wardens Strength.
