Walkthrough

    To start this quest, you must complete House of the Dead and the main quest [Blood of Arlathan]. Return to The Lighthouse and speak with Emmrich.

    Fast travel to Blackthorn Manor. From the front doors, turn left (west) and follow the edge of the house to find a ladder leading up to a balcony. Enter the “Guest Room” and work your way through the Ruined Balcony and into the North West Wing.

    Make your way to the Blackthorne Library (eastern wing, second floor). Defeat the undead warriors and undead mage. The Spectral Tome is on a landing between floors, on a small round table in the northeastern corner.

    Return to the North West Wing. In the Ruined Balcony, defeat the Superior Armored Skeleton. Head through the Storage area and down to the Servants’ Wing to find Manfred. Hand over the tome.

    Head back upstairs to the North West Wing and observe Manfred’s progress from the balcony.

    Follow Emmrich down to the Servant’s Wing to find a door along the northern side of the room. Open it with the Mansion Key provided by Manfred.

    Enter the shrine beyond and follow the “red tapestries”. Enter a side room to the east and loot chests. Exit and go west, then south to find a chest beyond a gated door.

    Backtrack north, then head down rickety wooden stairs to the west to reach “The Cellar”. Defeat the Armored Skeleton Captain and its minions. Note the red tapestry in the northeastern corner, which marks a secret door.

    Investigate the wall in the northeastern corner of the cellar to have Manfred open the secret door. In the room beyond, find a lift. To the west and south of the lift, on a high ledge, find a Trapped Wisp.

    Head to the eastern side of the room and find rough-cut steps leading up to the north. Loot a note on a table for the Gilded Invitation codex entry. Ascend a slope, then have Emmrich use “Soothe Torment” on the wisp to free it.

    Loot a unique chest for the Essence Vortex ring. Approach the wisp to draw it to you. Drop off a ledge to the south and exit through the secret passage to the south to return to the room with the levers.

    Continue south to a fork in the hallway, then turn east to reach a gate. Approach the gate and the wisp will pass through, possess a skeleton, and open the gate.

    Return to the cellar chamber to the north and search the western wall in the northwestern corner to find a bricked-up doorway with three stone tablets.
