Navigate the maze-like Zeto map and master the tense 1v1 arena of Hyperblast in Unreal Tournament with our comprehensive guide. Learn optimal routes, weapon control, and strategies.

Walkthrough: Zeto

Zeto is a maze with many identical corridors. Power-ups are essential here. The pulse rifle is on a high ledge in the north-west. Heading south from there, you can find the armor on the lower level of the west wing. Further south-east is the room with the shock rifle and shield-belt.

Your primary goal is to establish a route between the armor and keg in the west and the shield-belt in the south-east. Constantly collect shock, rockets, and flak ammo. By controlling this stretch of tunnels, you can secure three power-ups and plenty of ammo, while limiting opportunities for bots to attack you from unexpected angles. Avoid dropping to lower levels unless collecting the armor or belt, or if you need the low shock rifle.

As you approach the two doors along this route, prepare rockets or grenades to use immediately upon seeing enemies. Control the shock rifle room from above, camping near the two health packs. When bots are fighting below, drop down and use rockets or shock-combos for easy kills, then return to your circuit.

The frag limit of 15 is a blessing on Zeto due to its speed and confusing tunnels. Even if you fall behind, the match will end relatively quickly.

Miscellaneous: Zeto Secrets

  • Shield-belt: In the low south-east room with the shock rifle. Go to the ramp down from the ripper. At the bottom, touch the horizontal light on the left wall to open the door behind you concealing the belt. If the door closes, touch it again.
  • Keg: In the room with the body armor, climb onto the bridge above it. Jump over the pipe to reach the rocket launcher, then jump onto the pipe to the north. Jump again onto the tiny ledge on the wall opposite. Touch the corner wall to reveal the secret door with the keg.
  • There is a bad HOM (Heads-Up-Display artifact) against the wall below this ledge, but it cannot be used for hiding or clipping out of enemy fire.

Overview: DM-HYPERBLAST

Thanks to Magnetic Anti-Vacuum Resonance technology, combatants can battle outside Xan's 'HyperBlast' ArenaShip for extended periods. Extreme caution is advised, as one mistake can lead to floating in space.

This is a tiny, claustrophobic 1v1 arena. It's tense and twisty, with a quick power-up/weapon circuit and a mix of tight indoor and hazardous outdoor areas. It's not a popular duel map because players avoid the dangerous outdoor areas, sticking to a small indoor circuit to control the shield-belt. Compared to other challenges, this is likely the easiest.

  • Frag Limit: 15
  • Opponents: 1
  • Best Weapon: Rocket-launcher

Powerups / Armour: Hyperblast

  • Body Armour: In the ramp pit between the ripper and the minigun.
  • Shield-belt: At the apex of the curving vial corridor.
  • Invisibility: In the upper corridor, directly above the armour.

Controlling the Map: Hyperblast

In this 1v1 scenario, you don't need to worry about falling behind on points due to not finding an opponent. Xan won't score if he can't find you, so avoiding him until you're strong enough is a viable strategy. This can be achieved by collecting all power-ups and then engaging him aggressively.

The shield-belt and armor are close together; establish a circuit to keep collecting them. Preventing Xan from getting these, especially the belt, is critical. In a 1v1, power-ups offer a significant advantage to whoever gets them first.

The outdoor area is too dangerous for prolonged combat. The shock rifle and rockets are located outside, but fighting there for too long is risky due to the chance of being knocked into space. Grab the rockets and shock rifle when available, but quickly return indoors. If you must fight outside, use the minigun or shock rifle, as these are the only instant-hit weapons. The shock rifle can also potentially knock Xan into oblivion.

If you primarily stay indoors, collect weapons and ammo to deny them to Xan. The most advantageous camping spot is at the shield-belt. Position yourself against the wall behind the belt and use rockets or shock-combos when Xan approaches from either curving hallway. He will likely go for the vials, providing an audible warning of his approach, which is useful if he has invisibility. Xan is easily baited into bottlenecks, where splash damage can be used to wear him down.

Miscellaneous: Hyperblast Tips

  • When moving outdoors, run everywhere and resist the urge to dodge unless under heavy attack.
