Unreal Tournament guide for DM-PRESSURE: Learn map control, weapon strategies, power-up locations, and hidden room secrets for Part 39.
This section covers the map DM-PRESSURE in Unreal Tournament. The map has a fragmented flow, often leading to players spawning in the center and needing to search for weapons. Combat can be disjointed, with players frequently disengaging. To succeed, consistently racking up kills is crucial, otherwise, the match can become difficult to manage.
Frag Limit: 20
Opponents: 4
Best Weapon: Sniper Rifle
Powerups / Armour:
- Thigh Pads: Located on a high, single platform halfway down the long pillar corridor, directly above the Keg O' Health. Access it via the higher lift and then dodge or jump across.
- Body Armour: Found on top of a box in the box room.
- Shield-belt: Situated in the pressure chamber.
- Keg O' Health: Found in the high water tunnel.
- UDamage: Located in the pressure chamber.
Controlling the Map:
Against bots, controlling DM-PRESSURE involves camping and exploiting spawn points. Bots typically spawn in the narrow, pillar-filled central hall and follow predictable paths. Players can camp at either end of this hallway and continuously attack, as headshots are less important than sustained damage. Bots will run into the fire, die, respawn, and often be killed again by lingering shrapnel.
Each end of the central hallway features a lift, one low and one high. The lower lift is near a corridor leading to the Shock Rifle and ammo, with Body Armour nearby. Hammer-jumping off the platform at the top of this lift leads to the Sniper Rifle and ammo packs. This allows players to camp on the ground floor's back wall, firing between the pillars and periodically checking for ammo. Bots may approach from the right on ground or high platforms; if so, use the lift to escape (health vials are in a nearby tunnel) or retreat to the two health packs ahead, then counter-attack with shock combos.
The other end of the hallway is safer for camping, though it lacks Shock Rifle or Sniper Rifle ammo. Bots rarely approach from above or via the pressure chamber room if the player positions themselves with a pillar blocking their view from the tunnel. Escaping a surprise attack can be done by using the lift or running to the health packs.
A third camping spot is on top of the pressure chamber itself. Players can reach three health packs by jumping off the nearby lift and then attack players on the floor with shock combos. This spot requires ample Shock Rifle and Rocket Launcher ammo, as restocking involves entering the chamber for rockets. Camping here also provides control over the Shield-belt, though retrieving it can be dangerous. Players can get easy kills by targeting bots going for the belt or shooting the buttons, but should only collect it when safe. Spawn points in this section are opposite the lift, so focus fire there.
Most action on this map occurs on the ground floor. Utilize the platforms and gantries, accessible via any of the four lifts, for movement.
Hidden Rooms:
- Invisibility Room: Shoot the lightly colored wall next to the Sniper Rifle to open the door.
- Photo Room: Find the two staircases on the first floor with a single Rocket Pack between them. One staircase has four lanterns on the nearby walls. Damaging these lanterns opens a door in a corner under the Shield-belt bridge, revealing a photo. This door closes shortly after and cannot be reopened. Standing inside inflicts recurrent damage.
- Third Room: Only accessible by using ghost mode to clip through walls.
Movement Tips:
- If chased on the ground floor, a quick hammer-jump can reach the belt bridge or a single ledge for an escape.
- Hammer-jumping from the Rocket Launcher area can get you onto the map's roof. This is not useful in single-player but can be a hiding spot in Last Man Standing (LMS) matches.
