Master Unreal Tournament's Part 73 with advanced defense strategies for the Chains, Front Door, Reactor Room, and Crystal. Learn advanced movement techniques like hammer-jumping and side-dodging.

This section covers defensive strategies and advanced movement techniques for Unreal Tournament.

Walkthrough
  1. 1
Crystal Defense: After the Reactor Room gates open, find positions far from the Crystal to attack it safely. The area above and in front of the armor platform, or near the flak cannon on the left, are good vantage points.
  2. 2
Objective 1 / 2: Chains Defense: Spam the cave tunnel with flak and rockets to hold off attackers indefinitely.
  3. 3
Objective 3: Front Door Defense: Defend the Front Doors by preventing attackers from reaching the switch, which is a long distance away.
  4. 4
Objective 4: Reactor Room Defense: Once the Front Doors are destroyed, eliminate enemies coming up the ramps from the lower floor before they reach the Reactor Room switch.
  5. 5
Objective 5: Crystal Defense: Monitor the three gates that open after the attackers hit the switch. Stay elevated and watch for invaders approaching the Front Doors. Attackers tend to use the single low gate more, so be vigilant there.
Tips
  • Spawn Point Visit: Collect dropped sniper rifles and consider visiting the attackers' spawn-point for strategic advantage.
  • Hammer-Jumping to Cave Tunnel: Hammer-jump over the corner of your starting attack spawn-point to reach the cave tunnel entrance quickly, sacrificing some health for a head start.
  • Side-Dodge Through Gap: Practice side-dodging through the gap for faster entry, though it requires significant skill.
  • Rocket-Assisted Teammate Launch: Fire six spread rockets at a teammate's feet while they run in a straight line. If timed correctly, this can launch them onto the castle roof, allowing them to reach the next objective via the back lift (only useful if the Chains are already down).
  • Jumping Over Portcullis: Jump over the portcullis at the Chains using the small ledges on the gate, or from the other side.
  • Side-Dodging on Ramps: When running up the castle's middle ramps, side-dodge against the sloped sides of the single ramp to land on the floor beside it, saving time.
  • Hammer-Jumping to Upper Levels: Hammer-jump from the armor to the level above, or to the upper floor area in front of the lift by timing your jump with the ammo pack near the rocket launcher.
  • Hammer-Jumping to Chains Platform: Use hammer-jumps from various points to reach the platform above the Chains, creating an alternative route.
  • Backwards Hammer-Jump to Spawn: From the top of the castle roof (near the right catapult), backwards-hammer-jump to land in the attackers' spawn-point. Landing on the sloped cliff to the right avoids health loss.
  • Map Glitch (Defender's Advantage): Before the Chains are destroyed, hammer-jump or climb to the top of the spiky portcullis. Stand or crouch on it as attackers destroy the Chains; the portcullis should rise, hit the ceiling, and then lower, remaining closed for the rest of the round, preventing attackers from completing the map. This is a last resort if defenses are failing.

Ocean Floor (AS-OCEANFLOOR) Overview:

Oceanfloor Station5 is a deep-sea research facility. This map is not popular online due to the long travel time for attackers after respawning and only two easily defended base entrances.

  • Time Limit: 6:00
  • Teams: 4v4
  • Best Time: 0:26

Powerups / Armour:

  • Thigh Pads: Upper level, behind Terminal 4.
  • Body Armour (2): One in attackers' spawn-point; another at Terminal 1.
  • Shield-belt: Top of the lift between Terminals 1 and 2.
  • Keg O' Health: Upper level, between Terminals 3 and 4.
  • SCUBA Gear (5): Four in attackers' spawn-point; one on the outer roof of the base, above Terminal 4.

Attack Strategy (Ocean Floor):

After grabbing SCUBA gear, attack via the Terminal 4 or Terminal 1 openings. Defenders often guard these entrances. Sneaking past them allows access to all four objectives. Ripper-shots or grenades can hit Terminals 1 and 4 from the water entrances, with Terminal 4 being slightly easier. Hammer-jump from the Terminal 4 water entrance to the top platform to fire rockets down the stairs.
