Understand Pacts in diablo iv Season of Blood. Learn about Pact types, slots, and how to add/remove them using Cleansing Acid for 100 Potent Blood.
Pacts are the equipment requirements for Vampiric Powers in diablo iv, available to season characters during the Season of Blood. Almost every piece of armor found, regardless of quality, will have Pacts on it. There are three types of Pacts: Pact of Divinity, Pact of Eternity, and Pact of Ferocity. Different Vampiric Powers require different types and amounts of Pacts to equip. For example, Undying requires x1 Pact, Infection requires x1 Pact, Hectic requires x3 Pacts, and Metamorphosis requires x2 x2 x2 Pacts. The total Pacts on all equipped armor determine your Vampiric Power budget.
The number and types of Pacts on each piece of armor are random, but the maximum number of Pacts each armor type can hold is fixed:
- Helm: 3 Pact Slots
- Chest: 5 Pact Slots
- Gloves: 5 Pact Slots
- Pants: 4 Pact Slots
- Boots: 3 Pact Slots
- Total: 20 Pact Slots
The maximum number of Pacts you can have is 20, which is relevant as you can only equip 5 Vampiric Powers. Finding armor with the maximum Pacts or the specific types needed can be challenging, but Pacts on armor can be customized.
How to Add and Remove Pacts:
Stand-alone consumables can add one rank of a specific Pact to a piece of armor, up to its maximum capacity. For instance, a Pact of Divinity item adds one rank of Pact of Divinity. A suit of chest armor can have a maximum of 5 Pacts; once it reaches 5/5, no more Pacts can be added.
The game includes a Cleansing Acid item that removes Pacts from armor. By default, it removes all Pacts. However, visiting an Alchemist and navigating to the “Refine Resources” tab under “Pact Alteration” allows for fine-tuning. For example, Cleansing Acid - Divinity will only remove Pacts of Divinity. You can also craft more Cleansing Acid - All for 100 Potent Blood. Crafting Pacts via the Alchemist costs 250 Potent Blood per craft.
Pact consumables and Cleansing Acid can be farmed during Blood Harvest events, which appear on the map after completing or skipping the campaign questline. Blood Harvests are similar to Hell Tides, typically affecting one subregion, marked green on the map, and moving to a new area after their one-hour limit expires. Using Seeker Keys to open Seekers Caches is a good way to find Pact consumables. Blood Harvests also yield Potent Blood and progress Grim Favors for the Tree of Whispers.
