How to Defeat Astaroth

Alright, so you've made it to Act II and it's time to face Astaroth. Don't worry, I've got your back. This guy can seem a bit intimidating, especially in that first cramped arena, but once you know his moves, he's totally manageable.

Stats / Weaknesses:

• Astaroth is a major boss in Act II.
• His attacks become more frequent and combined as his health lowers.
• The arena size increases after the first phase, offering more room to maneuver.

Phases:

1. Phase 1: Small Arena
   • Astaroth has three main attacks: Flame Breath, Meteors, and Spear Swing.
   • The initial battlefield is small, making dodging tricky.
   • Focus on avoiding Flame Breath by moving to the sides.
   • Watch for the Meteor attack, which leaves a temporary ring of fire on the ground (AoE marker) – stay out of it!
   • For the Spear Swing, keep a good distance or position yourself to his sides.
   • As you damage him, you'll follow him down a narrow path and jump over a wall into a larger area.
2. Phase 2: Larger Arena
   • The same attacks are used but more frequently and often combined.
   • You have significantly more room to dodge and reposition.
   • Go in for a few hits, then retreat to recover health.
   • Adds (smaller enemies) will start spawning. Lure them away from Astaroth and defeat them before returning your focus to the boss.

Strategy:

• Movement is Key: Because the initial arena is small, you'll need to be constantly moving to avoid Astaroth's attacks, especially the Flame Breath.
• Positioning: Never stand directly in front of Astaroth. Always aim to be to his sides or behind him if possible.
• Watch the Ground: The Meteor attack creates dangerous AoE zones. Keep an eye on the ground markers and move out of them immediately.
• Patience in Phase 2: Once you move to the larger arena, you have more space. Don't get greedy. Hit him a couple of times, then back off to let your health regenerate or use a potion.
• Add Control: When the smaller enemies start spawning in Phase 2, don't let them overwhelm you. Lure them away from Astaroth so you can deal with them without taking heavy damage from the boss.

How to Find Astaroth:

To get to Astaroth, you'll need to progress through the Main Quest 'As The World Burns' in Act II. Head northwest from the Cerrigar Waypoint and find Donan. Interact with the Lower Cerrigar Gate to start the boss fight.
