Explore Diablo IV Rogue Specializations: Combo Points, Inner Sight, and Preparation. Learn how each unique specialization enhances your Rogue's playstyle and abilities.

The Rogue class in Diablo IV gains access to a special feature at level 15, similar to the Sorcerer's Enchantment system. Upon reaching this level, you'll automatically receive a quest called 'The True Potential.' This quest involves interacting with various NPCs across the world and completing a series of tasks. Upon successful completion and returning to the quest giver, you will unlock Specializations.

Once unlocked, you can choose from the following specializations:

  1. Combo Points
  2. Inner Sight
  3. Preparation

Players have the flexibility to switch between these specializations at any time without restriction.

Combo Point Rogue Specialization

The Combo Points specialization functions similarly to combo point systems found in other RPGs. You build combo points as a resource, which can then be spent to empower your abilities. Primarily, Combo Points significantly enhance your Core Skills. For instance, using the Barrage ability with combo points increases the number of arrows unleashed and boosts the skill's damage. Depending on the combo points spent, Barrage can fire 6, 7, or 8 arrows, dealing 20%, 40%, or 60% more damage respectively. The base Barrage skill fires 5 arrows without any combo points.

Rogue Inner Sight Specialization

Unlocking at level 20, the Inner Sight specialization offers a distinct playstyle focused on marking targets and building a separate resource bar. When you target enemies, an arrow appears above their heads. Attacks against these marked enemies fill the resource bar. These marks are temporary and can transfer between enemies. Once the bar is full, your skills will not consume energy for a short duration, allowing you to use your high-cost, energy-consuming skills freely, provided they are not on cooldown. This specialization scales with damage; high burst damage or quick area-of-effect clears can fill the Inner Sight bar faster. Upon the Inner Sight buff ending, your energy bar is refilled, enabling you to use your high-energy cooldowns again before returning to your basic skill rotation.

Rogue Preparation Specialization

The Preparation specialization is the third option for Rogues. This specialization grants full cooldown resets for your ultimate skill when activated. Additionally, for every 100 Energy spent, the cooldown of your Ultimate Skill is reduced by 8 seconds. This allows for playstyles centered around frequently using cooldowns and dealing damage, while strategically managing energy to reset your ultimate and subsequently your other skills. Certain builds, like trap-focused playstyles, can leverage this to deploy numerous imbuements and traps for significant burst damage or poison stacking in single-target encounters.
