Slayer Chapter Season Journey Guide for Diablo 4 Season 1

Master the Diablo IV Season 1 Slayer Chapter Journey. Learn how to complete objectives like Helltides, Nightmare Dungeons, and Malignant Tunnels for epic rewards.

To complete your Slayer Season Journey Chapter, you must start farming Helltides and Nightmare dungeons for the bulk of the challenges.

Objectives:

1. Wrath’s Beating Heart — Acquire a Wrathful Malignant Heart.
2. The Depths of Fear — Use 5 Nightmare Sigils.
3. A Boon in the Tide — Open one Tortured Gift of any type.
4. Keymaster — Craft 2x Nightmare Sigils at the Occultist.
5. Cut The First Ear — Kill another player in PvP.
6. Prophecy Manifest — Open a Mystery Chest during a Helltide.
7. Scourge of the Malignant — Complete 15 Malignant Tunnels.
8. Lingering Wrath — Defeat the Echo of Varshan at least once after completing the seasonal storyline.
9. The Paragon’s Path — Unlock 15 Paragon nodes.
10. Restored Glory — Upgrade two items four times at the Blacksmith or Jeweler.
11. Exceeded Potential — Improve a Paragon Glyph to rank 4.

• Fifth Journey Cache - Contain Nightmare Sigils, end-game resources for crafting, and some jewelry gear items.

You need to complete nine of the eleven objectives to earn these rewards. The objectives 'Cut the First Ear' (PvP) and 'Wrath’s Beating Heart' are not recommended. While Wrathful Hearts are important for builds in World Tier 3 and 4, they are difficult to obtain early on. It's better to acquire them later when your gear is more advanced.

Most other objectives will be completed passively as you engage in end-game content. Helltide objectives involve opening chests, including Mystery Chests, which offer the best rewards like legendaries and unique items. Opening a Helltide Mystery Chest requires 250 Aberrant Cinders. These chests spawn at specific, rotating locations, so consulting a Helltide Mystery Chest map can be helpful.

Nightmare Dungeons are another key activity. You can acquire Nightmare Sigils from Helltides, dungeons, world bosses, legion events, or by grouping with other players. Completing 5 Nightmare Dungeons counts as one objective. Crafting 2 Nightmare Sigils at the Occultist is another objective. Additionally, improving a Paragon Glyph to rank 4 will complete another challenge. It's advisable to research appropriate Glyphs for your build and Paragon boards to optimize XP usage.

Completing 15 Malignant Tunnels is also required. As you upgrade your gear to Sacreds and Ancestrals, you may need to re-farm Malignant Hearts for better rolls. Some Malignant Hearts are very beneficial for builds. You can fight the Echo of Varshan within Malignant Tunnels, particularly those with locked gates. It's recommended to fight Varshan on World Tier 2 first, then World Tier 3 (using Foul Invoker of Varshan), and finally World Tier 4 (using Tormented Invoker of Varshan). This requires defeating him on the preceding World Tier first.

While completing these activities, you will naturally earn 15 Paragon Points and likely upgrade items multiple times. These actions will fulfill the remaining challenges for the Slayer Chapter of the Diablo 4 Season 1 Seasonal Journey, progressing you through the battle pass.
