Shadows of Apollo

Guide to completing the Shadows of Apollo quest in Assassin's Creed Origins. Learn how to clear the Balagrae Roman Barracks and rescue Gupta.

Alright, so the last thing we need to wrap up in the northwest area is the "Shadows of Apollo" quest. It's going to take us back to the Green Mountains, specifically to the Balagrae Roman Barracks. You've probably seen this place before while messing around near Balagrae, but now it's time to actually clear it out.

This fort isn't too big, and honestly, the walls are a bit overkill for its size. That's actually good for us! You can probably pick off a few guards just by running along the walls. Once you've thinned their numbers a bit, you can use stealthy takedowns from above or your trusty bow to deal with the rest. After you've cleared out the barracks, head for the main southern gate. Look for some stairs opposite it, go up, and then enter the building from the north side. Head down some stairs inside, and you'll find a big red chest. Loot that!

Now, about the actual quest objective: in the cellar where you found that big red chest, there's a caged man named Gupta. He'll be babbling about not betraying some "black land," which he means Egypt, of course. You might remember Gupta from a note called Apollodorus’ Agents in Kyrenaika, which you should have picked up after finishing the mission His Secret Service. Free Gupta, and then you need to escort him out of the barracks and a good distance down the road. After a short chat with him, this quest will wrap up.
