Day two of Animal Crossing: New Horizons brings your first house upgrade! Learn about decorating, home storage, and the Nook Miles Ticket reward.

Alright, so if you managed to pay off that first 5,000 Nook Miles debt yesterday, congratulations! Today's the day you ditch the tent and get your very first house. You'll also notice all your neighbors have upgraded their digs too. Pretty neat, huh?

Now that you've got a proper home, it's time to make it yours! Keep an eye on your mailbox, because you'll get a letter from the Happy Home Academy with a free DIY recipe for some furniture. They're the folks who judge your decorating skills every week, giving you points and a rank based on how you've styled your place and how big it is. It's your chance to really show off your interior design flair!

Decorating just got a whole lot easier. You can now change up your furniture layout by pressing down on the D-pad. Use the left analog stick to select an item, tap A to rotate it, or hold A to move it around. No more awkwardly dragging furniture past other pieces like in the old days! Plus, you can hit the + button to switch to a wall view, making it super simple to hang things up.

Your house might feel a bit bare at first, but crafting more furniture and grabbing some from Timmy and Tommy will help fill it out nicely.

And guess what? You also get home storage now! Press the right button on the D-pad to access it. You can stash almost anything in there – just not DIY recipes or live plants. It's perfect for keeping things tidy!

Now, about that house... when you chat with Tom Nook next, he'll let you know the upgrade cost: a whopping 98,000 Bells. Yep, no Nook Miles for this one, you'll have to earn those Bells the old-fashioned way. Don't stress about the time, though; you can take as long as you need. But hey, a bigger house means more space for all that awesome furniture you'll be crafting and buying!

As a thank you for upgrading, Nook is also giving you a Nook Miles Ticket! You can use this at the airport for 2,000 Miles. Redeeming it sends you to a mystery island, which is super important for early game progress. You can gather tons of materials, find new fruits and flowers, and even meet new villagers to invite back to your island!
