Hey there! So, you want to get into farming in Animal Crossing: New Horizons? It's pretty similar to how you grew pumpkins for Halloween, but now we've got a whole bunch of new goodies you can grow right on your island. Get ready to plant some tomatoes, potatoes, carrots, sugarcanes, and wheat!

These crops are super useful, especially with the new cooking feature. You can grow them, harvest them, and then whip up all sorts of tasty dishes. Let's get you started on how to get your hands on these new crops and how to take care of them.

How To Get Wheat, Sugarcanes, Potatoes, Carrots, And Tomatoes

You've got a few different ways to snag these seeds. One of the easiest is by visiting Leif. He pops up on random days, and you're guaranteed to see him on Nature Day. He usually hangs out in the plaza and sells all sorts of things, including shrubs, flowers, and now, these awesome crops.

Now, there's a way to make buying from Leif way more convenient. Head over to Harv's Island and help him expand his marketplace. If you chip in 100,000 Bells to the Gyroid on the top left of the map, Leif will get his own permanent shop there the very next day! This is super handy because you can just pop back and forth and buy as much as you need without waiting for him to randomly visit your island.

Just a heads-up, all these crops sell for 280 Bells each, but you can buy them in bulk for 1,400 Bells. Buying in bulk is usually the way to go, especially if you don't have Leif's shop set up on Harv's Island yet. It can take ages for him to show up again, and he doesn't always have the same crops in stock.

Don't forget about those mysterious islands you can visit! Sometimes you'll find crops just waiting there for you to dig up and bring back home. So, keep an eye out when you're using those new boat tours – you never know what you might find!

And of course, the classic Animal Crossing way: trade with your friends! If you're all growing different crops, you can easily help each other out by swapping what you have.

How To Look After Your Farm

When you're ready to plant, it's a good idea to put your crops close together. This just makes them way easier to manage and water. You can even get creative and use custom designs to make your farming area look super neat!

Watering your crops is a big deal if you want the best results. If you just leave them be, they'll still grow, and they grow even faster when it rains. But, if you want the absolute quickest growth and the most crops per plant (three, to be exact!), make sure you water them every single day. Leif will tell you they work just like those pumpkin starts from Halloween, so if you did that last year, you're already a pro at this!

Once you've harvested, you can either save your crops for all those cool new DIY cooking recipes, or you can just keep planting and hoarding them if you want to build up a massive stash!
