Learn how to unlock and design the Restaurant facility in Animal Crossing: New Horizons' Happy Home Paradise DLC, including kitchen and dining hall ideas and staff assignments.

To unlock the Restaurant facility in the Happy Home Paradise DLC, you must decorate 12 Vacation Homes and complete the School facility. After decorating your twelfth home, you'll be offered the chance to design the Restaurant and Café.

Exterior Design: You can customize the exterior walls, roof, door, and awning colors. These can be changed later.

Interior Design: The Restaurant consists of two rooms: a dining hall and a kitchen. Each room has specific decoration requirements.

Kitchen Design

Required Items: 2 Stove Tops. The Order Tab offers additional kitchen equipment like steel counters, fridges, freezers, and various stoves and ovens.

Design Ideas:

• Aim for a professional, grey, and clinical look using stainless steel furniture.
• Create lines of steel counters and a refrigerator section with cooler boxes and vegetables.
• Add details like chopping boards, cooking utensils, and pans on the stoves. Customize pans to display different foods.
• After decorating, turn on gas stoves to simulate cooking and use the steamshine effect on food.

Dining Hall Design

Required Items: 1 Cash Register, 1 Table, and 4 Chairs. It's recommended to enlarge the room to accommodate more seating.

Design Ideas:

• Choose from various table and chair styles, including the Diner collection and Imperial furniture.
• Select wallpapers, flooring, and food items that match your chosen theme (e.g., East Asian or American diner).
• Add a counter area for front-of-house staff, including space for the register and decorations.
• Include lighting fixtures, wall decorations, and rugs.
• Use the steamshine effect on food items to make them appear hot and appetizing.

Staffing the Restaurant

After decorating, assign staff to four positions: Chef, Apprentice Chef, Cashier, and Employee. The Chef and Apprentice work in the kitchen, the Cashier stays by the register, and the Employee serves tables. Choose uniforms for your staff. Once assigned, you can observe customers interacting with the restaurant, with some using cutlery if food is present on tables.
