Learn how to unlock Nook's Cranny in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Gather wood, iron nuggets, and prepare for island hopping to complete Timmy's requests.
Walkthrough
- 1After your house is upgraded, visit Resident Services. Timmy and Tom Nook will discuss building a shop.
- 2Speak to Timmy, who will ask for your help.
- 3Gather 30 pieces of each type of wood (Softwood, Wood, Hardwood) and 30 Iron Nuggets.
- 4Craft several axes before chopping trees to save time. Remember that axes are made with 5 Tree Branches and 1 Rock. Be cautious of wasps.
- 5Once you have the wood, drop the bundles near Resident Services.
- 6To collect Iron Nuggets, use a flimsy axe or a shovel to hit rocks. You can get up to eight materials (iron, clay, rock pieces, or rare gold nuggets) from each rock per day.
- 7You can mine rocks once per day. Each rock can yield materials up to eight times.
- 8Be aware that hitting a rock recoils you, so you'll need to reposition yourself after each hit.
- 9There are six rocks on your island. One of them may contain Bell bags instead of materials, yielding up to 16,000 Bells.
- 10You may not be able to reach all rocks until you have the Ladder tool, which is obtained on day three or later.
- 11If you don't have enough Iron Nuggets after mining all rocks, you can either wait until the next day or use a Nook Miles ticket to visit a mystery island.
- 12Before island hopping, empty your pockets to maximize space for materials and craft a fresh set of tools. Bring extra materials to craft more tools if needed.
- 13Head to the Airport and use a Nook Miles ticket (gifted by Orville after your first home upgrade) to fly to a mystery island.
- 14On the mystery island, gather any remaining Iron Nuggets. You can also collect other materials, dig up fossils, shake trees for furniture, find DIY recipes on the beach, and collect non-native fruit for profit.
- 15Return to Timmy in Resident Services with the required materials to complete the Nook's Cranny construction.
Tips
- Crafting axes with 5 Tree Branches and 1 Rock is efficient for wood gathering.
- Use a shovel for mining rocks as it's more durable than an axe. The shovel DIY recipe can be obtained from Blathers.
- Be prepared for wasps when shaking trees or chopping them down.
- You can obtain up to eight materials from each rock daily.
- Consider using a Nook Miles ticket to visit a mystery island if you are short on Iron Nuggets.
- Maximize your inventory space before traveling to a mystery island.
- Bring extra materials to craft tools on the go.
- Non-native fruit sells for 500 Bells each, compared to 100 Bells for native fruit.
