The Doomsday Machine is the most potent defensive unit available in Total Annihilation. It is equipped with an incredibly powerful Doomsday laser, an extremely fast tracking light laser, and a double-barreled heavy laser. All of these weapons can aim and fire independently, allowing it to inflict massive damage on enemy invaders.

It requires only a single square of flat ground to build, the same space needed for a light laser, making it the most efficient use of limited defensive space. Compared to the Annihilator, the Doomsday Machine is much more energy efficient, with an income requirement of 195 (800/8 + 10/0.5 + 75/1). However, its firing range is limited to half that of the Annihilator. This shorter range means that plasma batteries can attack it from outside its reach if the owner is not vigilant.

In terms of raw damage output, the Doomsday Machine possesses the stopping power equivalent to 18 goliath tanks.
