[2-1-9] Roach

Learn how to use the Roach unit in Total Annihilation for amphibious assaults. Its blast radius is half a nuke.

The Roach is a small unit that packs a significant punch. Due to its slow speed, it is not ideal for attacking heavily defended areas directly. A common tactic is to use a Valkyrie (an aircraft) to pick up the Roach, fly it to the desired location, and then self-destruct (CTRL-D) the Valkyrie. However, the Valkyrie is vulnerable to anti-aircraft fire, so you should avoid areas with significant air defenses when using this method.

A key advantage of the Roach is its ability to move underwater, making sneak amphibious assaults highly effective. The explosive power of a Roach is comparable to about half of a nuke. In terms of offensive capability, it is equivalent to the Invader unit.
