[04-02-02] Overlord

Learn how to defeat the Overlord, the second boss in Duke Nukem 3D's Lunar Apocalypse. Master his rocket attacks and squish tactics with this easy-to-follow guide.

Stats / Weaknesses:

• Health: 4500
• Attacks: Rocket Barrage (Projectile), Squish (Melee)
• Weakness: His slow rockets are easily dodged by a mobile Duke.

Phases:

1. The Overlord appears in the final areas of the moonbase. He looks like a big enforcer with a massive rocket launcher on his back and a huge mouth.
2. He'll start firing slow-moving rockets from his back-mounted launcher. These are pretty easy to strafe around and avoid.
3. If you get too close, he can try to squish you with his massive body. This is easily avoidable if you keep your distance.

Strategy:

• Having a jetpack is a huge help here, allowing you to easily circle the arena and avoid his attacks. If you don't have one, don't panic – his rockets are still quite dodgeable.
• Equip your most powerful weapons. The RPG is a good choice; you'll need around 40 blasts to defeat him. The Devastator is also highly effective.
• Keep moving! Strafe and circle around him to avoid the rocket barrage. Don't stand still.
• The room he appears in might have some extra ammo, but you likely won't need it if you come prepared.
