[02-04-09] Cameras and Monitors

Learn how to use cameras and monitors in Duke Nukem 3D for scouting. Duke is vulnerable while using them, but can detonate pipebombs.

Monitors are typically large black screens with a purple forcefield and a "SECUIRTY" message. Looking into a monitor allows you to see other areas of the level, revealing items or enemies. Some connected cameras are stationary, while others can move slightly. Many monitors can access multiple cameras; continue pressing the Use key to cycle through them.

Warning: You are vulnerable to enemy fire when using a monitor.

You can detonate pipebombs while using a monitor, which is useful for setting traps or in DukeMatch.

Occasionally, you may find non-standard monitors, like TV screens, that display messages which could be helpful or are simply Easter eggs.
