Alright, let's talk about the Assault Troopers in Duke Nukem 3D. These guys are your bread-and-butter enemies, the brown, lizard-like humanoids you'll be blasting through most of the game. They wear a green jacket and pack a simple blaster, but don't let that fool you – they've got a trick up their sleeve: a jetpack!

That jetpack is what makes them a bit more interesting than your average grunt. They can use it to chase you down or get a better angle for their shots. While one Trooper isn't usually much of a threat, they can become a real pain when they swarm you. In large groups, they can surround you and dish out some surprisingly heavy damage, so it's smart to have a plan.

• Be aware that they can fly, so don't just focus on ground level. Keep an eye on the skies!
• There's a weird little quirk with these guys: sometimes, when they're about to die, they'll kneel down, make a choking sound, and blood will drip from their throat. It looks like they're faking their own death. The game's manual even hints at this. It's a bit unsettling, but don't fall for it – they can sometimes get back up if you leave the area and come back, even on lower difficulties. It's best to make sure they're fully toasted before moving on.
