Master Tekken 3's advanced mechanics in Part 13: Learn move cancelling with diagrams and how to tech throws for specific characters, including Gun-Jack, Heihachi, and King.
Walkthrough
- 1Move Cancelling: Tekken 3 allows cancelling many moves into others. The diagram shows basic cancelling paths from different states like 'any attack' or 'dshf' into moves like '#wlkb', '#dshb', or 'run'. Sidesteps can be cancelled with dashes and vice versa for 3D movement. Some attack strings can be cancelled with sidesteps.
- 2Teching Throws: 'Teching' a throw uses the tech-roll technique (tapping any button as you land) to lessen damage or eliminate okizeme after certain throws. A tech-roll always results in a roll to your character's left side.
- 3Specific Techable Throws:
- Gun-Jack: uf+1+2.b~db~d~DF+2. Button taps during the punch can increase damage as the CPU recognizes them as attacks.
- 4Heihachi Mishima: f~f+1+2. No effect on damage.
- 5Jin Kazama: f~f+1+2. No effect on damage.
- 6King: f~n~b~db~d~df+1. Damage is reduced by 35 (1/2).
- 7King: (2p grut)db+1+3. Damage is reduced by 15 (1/2).
- 8Kuma & Panda: f~f+1+4. No effect on damage.
- 9Forrest Law: f~f+3+4. No effect on damage.
- 10Difficult Joystick Motions: These are inputs significantly harder than most others.
- 11fc~df / fc~db: Hold D, roll to df and tap button(s) simultaneously. If the character stands up during the roll, you've gone past df_db to f_b.
- 12fc~df~d~df / fc~db~d~db: Used for moves like Bryan's fc~df~d~df+1+2, Law's fc~df~d~df+3, and King/Julia's fc~db~d~db+1+2. Requires precise joystick movements to stay in a crouching position throughout the motion. Avoid F or B positions. Complete the motion as fast as possible while observing your character's stance.
Tips
- Practice move cancelling by combining sidesteps and dashes for unpredictable movement.
- Mastering difficult joystick motions like fc~df~d~df requires careful attention to the joystick's diagonal positions and quick execution to avoid the character standing up prematurely.
