Pokémon Evaluations

The Safari Zone offers several notable Pokémon. Pikachu is common, but Pinsir and Heracross are strong additions, especially with their Mega Evolutions. Heracross is particularly useful if you lack a strong Fighting-type Pokémon. Wobbuffet is a popular choice for its high HP and counterattacking potential. Donphan is a powerful Ground-type that can be beneficial against the Elite Four Champion.

Safari Zone Gatehouse

Upon entering the Safari Zone, speak to the Street Thug near the entrance to receive TM85 (Dream Eater). This Psychic-type move drains the target's HP but only works if the target is asleep. While potent in competitive play when paired with moves like Spore or Dark Void, its effectiveness in-game can be limited due to the ease of curing sleep status.

Proceed northwest to the next area. For convenience, this guide will refer to areas by their general location (e.g., South-Center) and assume you have both the Acro Bike and Mach Bike, which are obtained after completing the game. Without both bikes, you may miss out on TMs like TM93 (Wild Charge) and TM53 (Energy Ball).

Safari Zone - Main Area Walkthrough

From the entrance, head northeast and then north towards rock ledges. Use the Acro Bike to jump over them, then follow the narrow bridge. Hop across more ledges to the north and descend some rocks.

Go east to the water and Surf southeast to a shore where you'll find a Calcium in the grass. Use the Mach Bike to ascend a slope to the west to find TM93 (Wild Charge).

Return to the rock ledges near the start. Head east and north, using the Dowsing Machine to find a Revive. Go back to the area's start and head west. Use the Mach Bike to go up a slope.

At the top, go west and examine the southwestern tile of the ledge to find a hidden Protein. Continue north, ignoring the slope, and enter the grass to find a Nugget in the northwest corner. Cross the lake to the next section.

Use the Dowsing Machine to find an Ultra Ball. Go to the southeast shore to find TM22 (Solar Beam). Return to the northeast shore and use the Mach Bike to reach a ledge. Use the Acro Bike on the southeast portion of this ledge to reach TM53 (Energy Ball).

Backtrack across the two small lakes. Use the Mach Bike to ascend a nearby ledge and collect a Big Pearl. The other slope in this area leads to nothing significant.

Return to the bottom of the earlier slope. Go west and use the Acro Bike to ascend the ledges. Ride across the bridge. Where the path splits, go west to the end to collect the Absolite. Descend the ledges.

Head north. In the northwest part of the tall grass, use the Dowsing Machine to find a Rare Candy. Go south across the lake to find a Max Revive.

This concludes the Safari Zone guide.
