Master the Lavaridge Town Gym puzzle and defeat Gym Leader Flannery to earn the Heat Badge and TM50 (Overheat) in Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire.

Alright, let's head into the Lavaridge Town Gym! This place has a bit of a puzzle with moving floor panels, kind of like the old Ruby and Sapphire games. These brown squares you see on the floor? They'll move you up or down levels. Pay close attention to which panel you need to step on to get where you're going.

Walkthrough
  1. 1
First, you'll want to use the middle panel to head Top.
  2. 2
Then, use the right panel to go Bottom.
  3. 3
Head Top again and battle the Kindler. After that, use the next panel.
  4. 4
Go Bottom and use the leftmost panel.
  5. 5
Head Top. You'll need to battle the Kindler and Battle Girl here, then use the southernmost panel.
  6. 6
Now, go Bottom and walk due east to run into the Ninja Boy. Beat him, then head back up.
  7. 7
Once you're back Top, use the far northern panel.
  8. 8
Go Bottom and use the easternmost panel. Keep an eye out, there's a hidden Ninja Boy to the left of this panel!
  9. 9
Head Top to battle Ace Trainer Zane. After you win, use the southern panel.
  10. 10
Finally, go Bottom, defeat the Kindler to the west, and use the next panel.

You'll find Flannery waiting for you here. If you need to heal up, you can easily hop over the ledges to the south and head back to the Pokémon Center. Otherwise, steel yourself and head north to face her!

BOSS - Gym Leader Flannery

Flannery's team consists of a Slugma Lv. 26, a Numel Lv. 26, and her ace, a Torkoal Lv. 28. They all use Fire-type moves and some have Sunny Day to boost their power.

Tips
  • While Water-type Pokémon like Swampert will do great, remember that Ground-types resist Fire moves. So, if you have a Water/Ground type, you're in a good spot!
  • If you're using a pure Water-type, make sure they're fast enough to attack first or can One-Hit KO. Otherwise, Sunny Day could make things tough.
  • Graveler and Golem are also solid choices since they resist a lot of moves, but watch out for Numel's Earth Power if you bring them.
  • If you don't have a Pokémon with a type advantage, focus on hitting their weaknesses and using STAB (Same Type Attack Bonus) moves.
  • Be extra careful if you lack a strong counter, as Sunny Day can make this battle moderately difficult.
  • $3,360
  • Heat Badge (allows Pokémon up to Level 50, even traded ones, to obey you, and enables the use of Strength outside of battle)
  • TM50 (Overheat)

TM50, Overheat, is a super powerful Fire move with 130 Power, but it lowers your Special Attack by two stages after use. It's best saved for when you really need to take down an opponent quickly, not for sustained battles.

And that's it! You've conquered the Lavaridge Town Gym. Only four more badges to go!
