Poké Playtime: Pokemon Amie

Pokémon Amie is a feature in Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire that allows you to interact with your Pokémon to raise their affection and enjoy playtime. This guide covers the various ways to engage with your Pokémon.

Pet your Pokémon: Use the stylus on the Touch Screen to pet your Pokémon. Affection increases as you rub them. Be mindful of individual Pokémon preferences, as some dislike being touched in certain areas (e.g., belly, fiery tail). A number of hearts or a music note will appear when you pet them correctly.

Feed your Pokémon: You can feed your Pokémon PokéPuffs to make them happy. Tap the top-left icon in the interactive menu to select a PokéPuff. You can scroll left to see different options. Each Pokémon has unique likes, regardless of species. PokéPuffs come in various flavors (mint, citrus, sweet, spicy, mocha) and effectiveness levels (basic, frosted, fancy, deluxe, supreme), granting one to five hearts respectively. Feeding PokéPuffs boosts Fullness and Affection.

Make Faces: This minigame requires a well-lit area and a clean inner 3DS/2DS camera. When a green face-like icon appears, follow the on-screen prompts (e.g., wink, tilt head, open mouth) to raise your Pokémon’s affection. Your face needs to be recognizable, so avoid obstructions like hair or glasses.

Attract Attention: You can run your stylus on the Touch Screen in empty areas to mimic waving your finger, which some Pokémon find cute. You can also use the microphone to speak to your Pokémon, though it doesn't significantly change anything. These actions don't substantially raise affection but can elicit cute reactions.

Decorate: As you play, you can earn decorations to customize the play area. These decorations do not appear in the actual Pokémon Amie play area but are a nice cosmetic addition. You can also receive decorations and Poké Puffs from visiting Pokémon when Pokémon Amie is active and you are online.

Play Minigames: Engaging in minigames with your Pokémon raises their Enjoyment and Affection, while lowering Fullness. This is considered a healthy way to interact with your Pokémon.
