Your guide to Route 111 South in Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, featuring trainer battles, the Winstrate family, and the Macho Brace.
Alright, welcome to Route 111! This stretch of land is a bit different because there's no tall grass to worry about, which means no random wild Pokémon encounters here. Keep heading northeast and then north for a bit. You'll spot a Pokémon Breeder walking around. When you see him, veer west, and you'll find the Winstrates' House. This is a cool spot where you can take on four trainer battles back-to-back. The name's a little pun – 'Winstrate' sounds like 'win straight,' get it?
Chat with the person at the door to kick things off. After you've successfully beaten all four Winstrate family members, they'll invite you inside their home. As a reward for your efforts, the mother will give you a Macho Brace. If a Pokémon holds this item, it'll double the EVs they gain from battles, but it does slow down their Speed stat temporarily. It's a pretty useful item to hang onto for a while, especially if you're focusing on training specific Pokémon. You can check a Pokémon's EVs in the Super Training app; if the bar on the right side is completely filled, they've reached their maximum EVs.
Once you're done at the Winstrates' House, head back out to the main Route and continue heading north. If you haven't taught any of your Pokémon the move Rock Smash yet, now's the perfect time to do it, because you'll need to break some boulders to move forward! As you keep going, you'll notice a couple standing in a corner of the mountainside – they look like they're doing a news report. Talk to them to initiate a battle. After you defeat them, they'll give you a pointless interview. Afterwards, head northwest to battle a Picnicker, and then a Camper a bit further north. There's also a Backpacker even further north if you want to take on another challenge.
If you wander too far north, you'll hit a massive sandy area. It's so dusty that it can actually blind you, so it's probably best to avoid that part of the Route until you get something like the Go Goggles (or whatever this game's version is). For now, your best bet is to head west and make your way to Route 112.
