Explore Fortree City in Pokémon Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire! Get the TM10 Hidden Power, trade for a Skitty, and find Secret Base items. Your Hoenn adventure continues!
Alright, welcome to Fortree City! It's a bit different from other towns you've visited, built right up in the trees. Let's see what we can find here before we move on.
Pokémon Trade: First off, if you head into the treetops on the northern side of town, look for the westernmost treehouse. Inside, there's a girl who wants to trade her Skitty for your Spinda. Honestly, neither Pokémon is amazing, but Spinda is way easier to catch than Skitty, so if you've got one and need the other, it's a decent trade.
Hidden Power TM: Next, head into the house next to the treehouse area. Speak to the elderly lady on the left. She'll give you a little puzzle: tell her the coin is in her right, then right again, then left hands. If you get it right, she'll give you TM10 (Hidden Power)! This move is pretty neat because its power is 60, but its type changes based on your Pokémon's IVs. The woman next to her can actually tell you what type Hidden Power will be for a specific Pokémon. Just remember, IVs are permanent once a Pokémon is caught, so that type is set for good. Hidden Power is usually best on Pokémon with high Special Attack that need extra coverage, but be warned: getting the *right* type can involve a ton of breeding because it all depends on whether a Pokémon's IV values are even or odd. It can get pretty tedious!
Secret Base Items: If you head south into the treehouses, the westernmost one has a Lass who'll give you some Stairs for your Secret Base. Then, make your way to the building on the far east side – that's the Secret Base Guild! When you enter, you'll meet Aarune, who'll give you a Proclamation for your base. You can also buy some cool items for your base here. Aarune is also available to battle if you're up for it.
Moving On: For now, the Gym here is off-limits. When you try to head towards Route 120, you'll see Steven heading that way too. Before you follow him, use your Dowsing Machine near the Pokémon Ranger to find a Tiny Mushroom. Once you've got that, head east to Route 120. We've got more exploring to do!
