    Return to Petalburg City. The quickest way is to speak with your rival in Lavaridge and travel together.

    Heal your Pokémon and shop for items in Petalburg City.

    Enter the Petalburg Gym. The gym features a puzzle similar to the original Ruby/Sapphire, with multiple rooms.

Norman's team consists of Slaking Lv. 28 (Encore, Retaliate, Yawn, Feint Attack), Vigoroth Lv. 28 (Fury Swipes, Feint Attack, Retaliate, Encore), and Slaking Lv. 30 (Chip Away, Swagger, Retaliate, Feint Attack).

Tips
  • Norman's Slaking have incredible Attack and Speed but are hindered by the Truant ability, which causes them to skip every second turn. Hit them hard on the first turn and heal or attack again on the second.
  • Focus Punch is an excellent move to use on the second turn against Slaking, as you will not be attacked.
  • Vigoroth can be a problem due to Retaliate. Using a Rock or Steel-type Pokémon will resist its attacks.
  • Fighting-type Pokémon are effective against Norman's team.
  • Rock or Steel-type Pokémon have a significant advantage as they resist most of Norman's moves.
  • If you have a Rock or Steel Pokémon, switch to it to resist Norman's attacks, then use your Fighting or Rock-type Pokémon to attack.

The Balance Badge allows Pokémon up to Level 60, even traded ones, to obey you and enables the use of Surf outside of battle.

TM67 (Retaliate) is a Normal-type move that doubles in power if one of the user's Pokémon fainted the previous turn.
