Complete Tressa's Fourth Chapter in Octopath Traveler, including the Grandport Sewers and the unique Esmeralda boss fight with its command-sealing debuffs.
- 1Head west in the Grandport Sewers to an east-west split. Go east first, down stairs, to find an Energizing Pomegranate (L).
- 2Return to the split and go west to find a Thunder Soulstone (L). A hidden doorway left of this chest leads to a ledge with an Imperial Helm.
- 3Return to the main path and head south to the end. Open the purple chest to the east for a Legion Dagger.
- 4Take the path west to a save point. South of the save point is a Wind Soulstone (L).
- 5Use the bottom of the two western paths to reach a new area with a Force Shield in a solitary chest.
- 6Double back and take the northwestern path to the main area. Open the chest immediately south for a Thunder Soulstone (L) and continue west.
- 7Find a Refreshing Jam in a chest in a small alcove north of some stairs. A hidden path next to this chest leads to a Scourge Lance.
- 8Descend the first, second, and third sets of stairs on the main path. On the right side, go through an opening to find a Robe of the Dragon Princess.
- 9Continue south and then west to the corner for a Healing Grape (M).
- 10Enter the final area to the north. To the right of the save point is an Olive of Life (L). Heal, save, and proceed west to face Esmeralda.
BOSS - Esmeralda
Esmeralda has a unique mechanic where her attacks seal commands (Attack, physical skills, or magical skills) which can only be removed by breaking her. Red Blade seals Attack, Blue Blade seals physical skills, and Violet Blade seals magical skills. Physical and elemental defense buffs can mitigate damage from these attacks.
Black Blade does not deal damage but applies a counter that kills the character when it reaches zero; breaking Esmeralda dispels this. Esmeralda's other moves include Hack and Slash (three big physical hits to one target) and Five Strikes (five big hits to random allies), which can be deadly to low-HP characters.
Raven's Flight lowers physical defense for all allies. Esmeralda is initially weak to spears, axes, staves, wind, and light. After recovering from a break, she gains two shields and changes her weaknesses. She wastes one action to change weaknesses, cycling through three sets. The second set includes weaknesses to swords, bows, fire, lightning, and wind. The third set includes weaknesses to spears, daggers, ice, wind, and dark.
At half health, Esmeralda uses Black Blade Rush, a party-wide Black Blade with counters of 1, 3, 5, and 7. Keep her shields near breaking point when her turn is approaching to dispel these counters. Five Strikes is the most dangerous move due to its potential to instantly kill characters.
- Focus on breaking Esmeralda to remove her debuffs and make the fight easier.
- Buff physical and elemental defense to mitigate damage from her Blade attacks.
- Be prepared for the high damage potential of Five Strikes, especially on single targets.
- Manage her changing weaknesses effectively by switching your party's attacks.
- Keep Esmeralda's shields close to breaking when she is at half health to counter Black Blade Rush.
