A complete walkthrough for Ophilia's Chapter 3 in Octopath Traveler, detailing the path to Seaside Grotto and strategies for defeating the Mystery Man and Shady Figure bosses.
Walkthrough
- 1Road to the Seaside Grotto: Enter the area and find a save point to the south. Collect the Thunder Soulstone M from a chest nearby. At the fork, head north for an Ice Amulet, or west for a Bottle of Poison Dust and a Healing Grape Bunch. Continue west, find a chest with an Herb of Awakening, and then enter the Seaside Grotto.
- 2Seaside Grotto: Upon entering, head south at the fork to find a chest with an Inspiriting Plum Basket. Continue deeper, cross a bridge, and take the north path. Squeeze through a small opening on the left to find a chest with Refreshing Jam. Return to the bridge and head south. After passing the save point, continue west and up the trail. Find a hidden path growing out of a rock to access a purple chest containing the Grand Helm.
- 3Return and Continue: Go back to the save point. The path to the far west is a dead end. Head east from the save point, cross a bridge, and open the chest at the end for an Energizing Pomegranate M. Double back before the bridge and head northwest, opening a chest with an Olive of Life. Follow the trail to another bridge, and find a chest south of it with an Inspiriting Plum M.
- 4Final Stretch: Cross the bridge and find another save point. The path south leads to a final chest containing a Silver-filled Pouch. Head east from the save point to trigger the boss fight.
BOSS - Mystery Man and Shady Figure
Stats / Weaknesses:
- Mystery Man: Weak to Spears, Axes, Light, Darkness.
- Shady Figure: Weak to Swords, Daggers, Fire, Ice, Lightning.
Phases:
- Initial Phase: Shady Figure has two actions per turn, one of which is always 'Heal Wounds' (800 HP heal). Mystery Man blocks elemental weaknesses and uses powerful elemental spells (Fireball, Icewind, Lightning Bolt) and Arcane Blade (dark-elemental).
- Post-Defeat Buff: When one boss is defeated, the other gains three actions per turn, three permanent shields, and new moves. The buff removes the blocked weaknesses.
Strategy:
- Focus damage on the Mystery Man first, as his attacks are more dangerous. Exploit his physical and dark/light weaknesses.
- The Shady Figure's 'Heal Wounds' can be out-damaged if your party's total damage per round exceeds 800 HP.
- Be prepared for the Mystery Man's Arcane Blade, which can one-shot characters. Have a Cleric ready to heal or revive.
- If the Shady Figure is defeated first, he gains Arcane Blade and Black Magic (dark party attack with Terror).
- If the Mystery Man is defeated first, he gains Channel Energy (elemental buff) and Fire Storm (double-hitting Fireball).
- Consider using a Cleric with Reflective Veil and a Dancer with Sealticge's Seduction for a powerful defensive strategy.
- Experience and Job Points
- Potential for rare drops from bosses.
