The Merchant's Path

Hey there! Ready to tackle another side story in Octopath Traveler? This one's called "The Merchant's Path," and it's all about helping out a big-shot merchant in Goldshore who's having some trouble with bandits. You'll need to be in Chapter 2 or 3 to start it, and it's located in Goldshore. If you get through it, you'll be rewarded with 11,000 Leaves, a Slippery Nut, and a Light Nut. Let's get this done!

Walkthrough:

The quest giver is the Merchantry Master, and you can find him chilling in the northern part of Goldshore. He's got bandits harassing his merchants, which is a real pain for getting goods out. Luckily, there are two ways to solve this, depending on who's in your party.

1. Solution 1 (Requires Cyrus or Alfyn):

   First, you'll need to head out of Goldshore and go to the West Goldshore Coast. Once you're there, cross the bridge that's north of the save point. Keep an eye out, because you should spot an NPC on the other side. Your goal here is to use either Scrutinize (with Cyrus) or Inquire (with Alfyn) on this NPC. You're trying to get a piece of information called A Safe Route. Once you've got that, just bring it back to the Merchantry Master, and you'll be good to go!

2. Solution 2 (Requires H'aanit or Olberic):

   For the alternate approach, you'll need either H'aanit or Olberic in your party. This time, you're hunting down a specific NPC named Drevon. Don't worry, he's not too hard to find. Head to the cathedral in the northwest part of town. Drevon is hanging out along the bottom wall right in front of it. You'll need to use either Challenge (with H'aanit) or Provoke (with Olberic) on him. He's pretty weak, only having a strength of two, so this should be a quick and easy way to complete the side story!
