The battle with Deviljho begins unusually, with The Handler on its back, forcing it to flail and ram into scenery, creating openings. This initial phase is easy mode, with Deviljho dealing incidental damage and frequently vulnerable. The fight truly begins once The Handler is dislodged, allowing you to send an SOS.

Deviljho is aggressive and ravenous, attacking relentlessly but tiring easily. Its range is surprisingly large with little recovery time after attacks. Despite its size, its small legs are the primary target for melee hunters, but its constant movement makes it difficult to hit. Ranged weapons also struggle with its range.

Deviljho can seize smaller monsters and fling them as weapons. You can deter this with powerful strikes or Flash Pods, or simply let it happen and collect dropped materials.

Its maw is its primary offense, with sweeping attacks, lunging bites, and combos that cover significant ground. While avoiding its maw is obvious, its aggression and range make it challenging. Staying under Deviljho near its legs offers some safety and allows attacks on its legs or belly. However, its constant movement, quick attacks, and a one-legged stomp can still hit hunters, even those positioned underneath or behind it.

Other attacks include a single tail sweep and a hip-rush. Its leaping attack can deal damage and is followed by a grab, toss, and fling combo.

When enraged, Deviljho's head and neck muscles engorge, and it gains a breath weapon that utilizes the Dragon element, affecting a wide area. This can be blocked with a shield.

Deviljho's head and belly are breakable, and its tail is severable. It is weak to Thunder and Dragon elements, takes least damage from Ice, and is moderately susceptible to all ailments. Breaking parts or carving can yield rare Deviljho Gems.
