Alright, so you've bumped into the Pukei-Pukei, huh? This big ol' bird wyvern is kinda like a gatekeeper in Monster Hunter: World. Completing the 'Urgent: Pukei-Pukei Hunt' quest is your ticket to taking on 3-star missions. Then, when you finally tackle 'Invader in the Waste' in High Rank, you'll unlock those sweet 6-star missions. It's a bit of a rite of passage, honestly!

You'll run into Pukei-Pukei in a few different quests: 'Urgent: Pukei-Pukei Hunt' and 'Scatternut Shortage' both unlock after you've progressed a bit. Then, for High Rank, you've got 'Invader in the Waste', 'Googly-Eyed Green Monster' in the Ancient Forest, and 'Pukei-Pukei Ambush' in the Wildspire Waste. So yeah, you'll be seeing this guy around!

Pukei-Pukei Strengths and Weaknesses

Even though it's a Bird Wyvern, its body is built a bit like a Flying Wyvern, which is good news for us when it comes to hitting its weak spots. Aim for the head, wings, and tail – the head takes the most damage. You can break its head, wings, and body, and even chop off its tail, so focus your attacks there!

Elemental Weaknesses: Pukei-Pukei is resistant to Water but really hates Thunder. It's okay against Fire and Ice, and not great against Dragon.

Ailment Weaknesses: This thing loves poison, so it's naturally resistant to it. Your best bet is to hit it with Sleep or Paralysis, as it's very vulnerable to both. Blast and Stun are also decent options.

Pro Tip: Seriously, craft some armor with Poison Resistance. Getting immunity to poison makes this fight SO much easier. If you can't get that, bring plenty of Antidotes!

Pukei-Pukei Attacks

Get ready for a lot of poison! Pukei-Pukei spits it out like it's going out of style – sometimes a single glob, sometimes a nasty three-shot combo, and it can even spray a venomous mist from its tail. Its flanks might seem safer, but it's quick, so don't get too comfortable. Your best bet is to play defensively, dodge or block those venomous attacks, and only strike when you have a clear opening.

Besides the poison, watch out for its lunges, charges, tail swipes, and leaping claw attacks. It can fly too, so make sure your Scoutfly level is high enough to track it when it decides to peace out to another area. You don't want to be running around blind!
