Diablos: Horned Tyrant Below The Sands

Track the Diablos to increase your Scoutfly Level.

Engage the Diablos. It has few attacks but hits hard and is relentless.

Be wary of its charges, especially after a roar, which deal massive damage. These can be blocked with a shield.

If you don't have a shield, watch for ground upheaval indicating its burrowing passage and evade.

The Diablos uses a two-strike tail slam, a sideways hip-check, and horn slashes against close foes.

It excels at burrowing, using it to move rapidly and to attack by violently surfacing from underground. This can also be blocked with a shield.

The burrowing and surfacing provide brief windows for quick attacks.

The Diablos's head, wings, and belly are weak points. The belly is vulnerable to cut and blunt damage, the head to blunt damage, and the wings to ammo damage.

The tail is severable, and the horns can be broken.

After defeating the Diablos, you will trigger a cutscene (a non-interactive cinematic the game plays automatically) with the First Wyverian.

Return to Astera and speak with the Commander.

Talk to the Commander again, then seek out other exclamation points around Astera.

Speak to the vendor atop the Provisions Stockpile; new items are available. Purchase the Powercharm for 36,000z and the Armorcharm for 24,000z. These passively boost attack and defense, respectively.

If you completed the optional quest Man's Best Fiend, speak to the Impatient Biologist at the Biological Research station to unlock the quest Gone in a Flash, involving a Kirin in the Coral Highlands.

Head to the Workshop and speak to the Armory clerk to unlock the quest Redefining the Power Couple, which requires hunting a Rathalos and a Rathian simultaneously.

After picking up new quests, talk to The Handler to begin your next assignment concerning Zorah Magdaros.
