Master the Legiana in Monster Hunter: World! Learn its weaknesses, resistances, attack patterns, and best strategies for Low Rank, High Rank, and Tempered variants.
You’ll first come into contact with Legiana during the assignment Legiana: Embodiment of Elegance. After this, you should unlock the optional quest A Humid Headache. Once you reach High Rank, you’ll be able to engage in the quest Legiana: Highlands Royalty after the mandatory Elder’s Recess expedition. Around the same time, you should be able to talk to the Chief Botanist to pick up the quest Talons of Ire and Ice, where Legiana is one of your targets, along with Odogaron. After hunting one High Rank Legiana, you should also unlock the optional quest Special Arena: HR Legiana.
Legiana is a Flying Wyvern. Variants include Low Rank, High Rank, and Tempered (Threat Level 2).
Legiana Strengths and Weaknesses
The head, wings, and tail of Legiana are more vulnerable to damage than other areas, with the head taking the most damage from all sources. The head, wings, body, and tail are all breakable.
Legiana is weak to Thunder and resistant to Ice. While not being strong against any ailments, Legiana is most vulnerable to Poison.
Legiana prefers to remain in the air, from which it performs most of its attacks. Flash Pods are highly recommended to bring it to the ground for melee characters to punish. Be wary of its aerial assault, as some weapons may struggle against it. Legiana is capable of breathing ice in a variety of forms. Ice Resistance will help mitigate damage, and a score of twenty or higher will negate the Iceblight it can inflict. If not, bring Nulberries to remove Iceblight when afflicted. Given Legiana’s penchant for flying to higher perches to escape assault, the Glider Mantle may help you get around faster, but it’s hard to recommend this over more protective mantles.

Legiana Attacks
Legiana is an aggressive, agile monster that particularly likes to attack from the air. Its relatively lithe body, quick attacks, and delight in aerial assaults can make it a difficult monster to hit. To attack, it uses bites, an aerial claw attack, tail sweeps, and the obnoxious “pace back and forth” that all Flying Wyverns seem to do.
Its most annoying attacks are its ice attacks: a short-range arc in front of it, and a long-range linear attack. Both do serious damage and can inflict Iceblight, which will increase the Stamina cost of actions. Both can be performed while Legiana is in the air. Use a Nulberry to rid yourself of its effects if you get the time, but be wary, as Legiana is a tenacious beast which will give you few opportunities to rest.

For Low Rank Legiana, the rarest drop is its Legiana Plate, which is a very rare drop or carve, but you can get another shot at it by breaking the head or body or carving the tail. High Rank Legiana can be carved for a Legiana Gem, which you can also obtain by breaking the head or body, or carving the tail.
