Objective: Talk to your primary skill trainer (location varies by class) outside Ascalon City.
Reward: 250xp.
Reward Giver: Primary Skill Trainer.
Comments: No difficulty.

[Your Class Here] Test [ps3]
Quest Starter: Primary Skill Trainer [Lake Side County, right outside of Ascalon City]
Objective: Varies by class. Kill river skales or collect shimmering scales from them.
Reward: 500xp + class-specific skills (Elementalist: Flare, Aura of Restoration; Ranger: Power Shot, Troll Unguent; Warrior: Frenzy, Healing Signet; Necromancer: Vampiric Gaze, Deathly Swarm; Mesmer: Empathy, Ether Feast; Monk: Healing Breeze, Banish).
Reward Giver: Primary Skill Trainer.
Comments: Do this with 'Gwen's Flute'.

Gwen's Flute [ps4]
Quest Starter: Gwen
Objective: Find Gwen's broken flute south of her location, across the river.
Reward: 250xp.
Reward Giver: Gwen.
Comments: Gwen can follow you outside Ascalon City and be made happy with gifts. She may give a Tapestry Shred.

Further Adventures [ps5]
Quest Starter: Haversdan [Lakeside County]
Objective: Speak to Devona in Lake Side Village.
Reward: 250xp.
Reward Giver: Devona.
Comments: Many monsters are non-aggressive in Pre-Searing. This quest unlocks most others.

Unsettling Rumors [ps6]
Quest Starter: Devona [Lakeside County/Village]
Objective: Speak to Meerak the Scribe about the Charr Threat, then speak to Armin Saberlin in Ascalon City.
Reward: 250xp.
Reward Giver: Armin Saberlin.
Comments: Teaches quick travel ('M' button). Party disbands upon quick travel. Activate all Ascalon City quests.

Adventure with an Ally [ps7]
Quest Starter: Lina [Lakeside County, just outside of Ascalon City]
Objective: Party up with another player and return to Lina.
Reward: 100xp and a resurrection signet.
Reward Giver: Lina.
Comments: One of two pre-searing quests requiring a partner. The signet is useful.

Second Profession [ps8]
Quest Starter: Armin Saberlin [Ascalon City]
Objective: Learn a second profession.
Reward: 250xp.
Reward Giver: Armin Saberlin.
Comments: Consider your choice carefully before completing.

Bandit Raid [ps9]
Quest Starter: Baron Egan [Ascalon City]
Objective: Retrieve the Ashford Strongbox from bandits and return it to Devona.
Reward: 250xp.
Reward Giver: Devona.
Comments: Kill bandits first. You move slower and cannot attack with weapons while carrying the box, but can cast spells. Camp is northeast of Ashford Abbey.

The Poisonous Devourer [ps10]
Quest Starter: Baron Egan [Ascalon City]
Objective: Hunt a plague devourer and give its stinger to Brother Mhenlo.
Reward: 250xp, +3 energy Focus.
Reward Giver: Brother Mhenlo.
Comments: Do this with 'Pitney's Worm Problem' and 'Egg Hunter Quest'. The devourer appears as you approach it in the cave.

Charr in the Catacombs [ps11]
Quest Starter: Prince Rurik [Ascalon City]
Objective: Investigate Charr sightings in the Catacombs.
Reward: 250xp, 100 gold.
Reward Giver: Prince Rurik.
Comments: Speak to Brother Mhenlo (Ashford Abbey), Necromancer Munne (Catacombs), and Oberan the Reviled (Catacombs, near Greenhills County Entrance). This quest offers significant gold for Pre-Searing.
